Trey Baur from MICDS jumped onto the scene last season as a sophomore, emeging as one of the leaders of veteran team, producing at a consistent basis. Baur will be looked upon again this season to be a major offensive and defensive component for the MICDS squad.

With a productive spring and summer season, Baur is a player to keep your eyes on. Currently ranked No. 26 in the Class of 2014, Baur is primed for a jump in the rankings. With his baseball skill set combined with very high academic standards, the sky is the limit for Baur.

PBR: What do you expect going into your junior season?

Baur: I expect to be in a highly competitive Metro League, as last year’s state championship game had two of the league’s teams, Westminster and Lutheran South.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?

Baur: I have a passion to be a student of the game, and understand that increasing my baseball IQ is a journey that never ends. 

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Baur: As much as I believe that the mental side of the game is my strength or advantage, I know that I still have tons of things to learn and improve on.

PBR: What are your expectations and experiences in the recruiting process?

Baur: That in order to achieve your goals, it requires a balanced approach in the classroom and on the baseball diamond. Additionally, it’s better to start thinking about it sooner rather than later.

PBR: What type of program would you like to play at? What is most important to you: Caliber of program, coaching staff, academics, etc…?

Baur: I hope to play for a school that maximizes my academic opportunity through baseball. I know it sounds cliché, but it is true that college is a forty year decision, not just a four year decision.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?

Baur: It’s still early in the process, but I am interested in high academic schools from coast to coast.

PBR: What were your personal goals for the 2012 season and were they met? Goals for the 2013 season?

Baur: The 2012 season was frustrating for both me and the team because we weren’t as consistent as we should have been. Our goal for the 2013 season should be to have more consistency.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?

Baur: St. Louis 17u Blue Gamers under Coaches Matt Whiteside and Scott Cooper.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have faced?

Baur: Devin Williams and Alex Lange.

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2012 baseball season (High School or Summer)?

Baur: My fondest memory is being able to play in Cary, North Carolina at the USA Baseball complex for the 17u Midwest team, where our team went 2-1 against stiff competition.

PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?

Baur: My most memorable moment is when my Cooperstown team won an extra-inning semifinal game against the San Diego Stars to make it to the championship.

PBR: You have attended a PBR Showcase, what are your thoughts on how it will be beneficial to you as you keep moving forward in the recruiting process?

Baur: It was a well-run showcase, and it did a great job of identifying local talent. PBR’s platform helps prospects by increasing their exposure to college coaches.
