The Class Of 2019 Showcase – North and Future Games Trials – North took place on Tuesday, June 26th, at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, in Monroe, LA. The two open events saw prospects from across the state of Louisiana perform in front of several college coaches, and the Prep Baseball Report Louisiana scouting staff.

Tuesday saw several prospects emerge onto the recruiting scene with standout performances.

Today we dive into a few quick hits and observations from Tuesday's event:

Chandler Hay SS / OF / Cedar Creek, LA / 2019 An LSU-Eunice recruit, Hay showed upper-level tools on Tuesday, which included an event best 6.41 60-yard dash. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound outfielder has premium athleticism that should allow him to remain in centerfield as he advances in the game. Using a short arm action into high-3/4 release, Hay showed quality arm strength with carry and accuracy on throws during the defensive portion of the event. A right-handed hitter, Hay showed feel to hit during live batting practice, consistently making hard contact while using the entire field. He hits from a balanced, athletic setup with simple, smooth load, short stride, and fluid rhythm to the swing. As well, he showed quality bat speed with a flat, on-plane path, and flashed potential power at times, driving the baseball with backspin.

Kade Garmany C / RHP / North Webster, LA / 2019 A potential two-way prospect going forward, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound junior made a big splash on Tuesday. Garmany showed off high-level catch and throw skills, posting a top pop time of 1.81-seconds with high-level arm strength with easy carry on throws to 2nd. A right-handed hitter, he also showed bat speed with strength at contact, and present power to the pull side. He also showed big upside on the mound, displaying electric stuff at times. It's a long, clean arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and normal effort. His fastball showed heavy, late life to the arm side at 86-89 mph, and commanded the strike zone well. As well, he also displayed quality feel for secondary stuff, especially the change up which showed fading action with hard, late life and fastball arm speed at 76-77 mph.

Harland Zeb Ruddell LHP / OF / Neville, LA / 2022 The 5-foot-11, 168-pound rising freshmen showed advanced ability for his age on Tuesday. Ruddell is ahead of the curve physically and athletically, evidence by his 6.79 60-yard dash time. Offensively, the left-handed hitter showed fluid rhythm with advanced bat speed, strength at contact (88 mph exit velocity), and feel for the barrel. He showed consistent hard contact with a flat, on-plane path, and worked gap-to-gap during batting practice. On the mound, Ruddell showed a long arm action with a slight stab on backend, and quick arm speed from a high-3/4 release. Commanding the strike zone well, Ruddell showed projection with his athletic delivery, and ran his fastball up to 81 mph.

Hunter Herring OF / 3B / Ouachita Christian, LA / 2021 The 6-foot-4, 200-pound rising sophomore outfielder was impressive Tuesday, with a highly projectable, long levered frame, and room to add plenty of strength in the future. A right-handed hitter, Herring hits from a balanced, athletic setup with smooth load and short stride. Showing present bat speed and strength at contact, he flashes big power potential when he gets extension and creates leverage in the swing. An advanced athlete as well, Herring posted a 7.11 60-yard dash, and showed a long, loose arm action with carry on throws from the outfield, posting a positional velocity of 83 mph.
