QUICK HITS
KJ Anderson: Had a solid round of BP that showed a full field approach with hard backside and up the middle line drives. Led the entire group with a 96 exit velocity on Trackman, while also sporting the highest average exit velocity at 87 mph. Anderson starts with a narrow stance that presents a shorter swing with quick hands to the ball. Barrel has a slight uppercut with lots of pop to pull side. Showcased well at catcher too and is a name to look out for as he progresses in his high school career.
Cade Thorne: Athletic frame on the lighter side at 5 foot 10, and 160 pounds that shows good feel for handling the batt. Showed quick hand speed at 22 mph, to go along with one of the highest bat speeds at 68 mph and one of the best rotational acceleration (G’s) of torque on his body/hip rotations through the zone. If this guy can continue to add to his frame and get into the say 180 pound range, he should be a guy that can start hitting balls out on a consistent basis. Showed good arm strength at 82 mph. Overall, had a really productive outing.
Baylor Osborne: Defined catcher at 5 foot 9 and 165 pounds. Handles the batt pretty well from the left side and shows an up the middle approach. Would of liked to see him use his lower half a little bit more and show some pull side pop, as I believe he has more in his body currently and can hit big time pitching. Showcased clean actions behind the dish with a compact body that was quick to transfer and throw with darts that held their plane belt high to second base. Osborne is a guy that will hit a lot of fly balls that will translate to power as he grows into his frame and projects well behind the dish with a 1.95 pop time and 73 mph from home.
Nick Potts: Solid player at 5 foot 9 and 160 pounds that is athletic in the field playing infield or at the catching position. Sported the best pop time of the day with a 1.85 that was twitchy with his mechanics that showed effortless transitions staying low and delivering the ball up the middle to second. In the infield, showed smooth actions working to the ball and delivering 85 mph across the diamond. Showcased well, and performs in game setting environments. At the plate hitting, wants to stay up the middle and can at times get in front of the plane and can showcase more power in his batt by letting the ball travel a little bit deeper.
Logan Barney: Big frame filled out kid at 6 foot 1 and 190 pounds. Stood out on the mound with clean body mechanics that worked well with his lead block well into pronation. Could work to use his lower half better initially as he has more arm speed than he realizes currently and could be in the 84-86 mph range with a few little tweaks in his timing and push off. Overall threw strikes with his fastball that showed two-seam action with late run that he will be able to work into righties consistently. Sat in the 80 mph range that could play higher as he develops more feel spinning the ball and his release pont. Showed feel with the changeup that he was able to land in the zone that flashed potential. Overall a really nice outing on the mound and is a guy that has a lot of more velocity in the tank.
