LAREDO, TX – After a nail-biting nine-inning affair on Friday night, a game that Churchill High School took a 2-1 victory, Churchill and McAllen High School met up at Uni-Trade Stadium in the heat of the day to conclude the Region 4 semi-final series.
Unlike the previous night’s low-scoring fashion, Churchill got out to a large, early lead. Scoring a single run in first inning and then tacking on a whopping six runs in the second. The Chargers’ pitching staff took care of the rest. 2018 RHP Landry Wideman (Texas A&M recruit) worked five strong, pitch-efficient innings and only yielded one run to McAllen before turning handing the ball over to the bullpen. 2017 RHP Matt Moran and 2018 RHP Jack Neely each dealt scoreless innings to finalize the 8-1 victory.
With the series win, the Chargers move on to the Region 4 finals against district rival Reagan High School. The series will begin on Thursday June 1st at 7:30 at Wolfe Stadium, the home field of the San Antonio Missions.
