Chain Baseball "Off the Chain" Camp Scouting Notes

By Mike Maerz
Area Scout/Director of Florida Operations

This past weekend, Chain Baseball held its “Off the Chain” camp at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, FL, New York Yankees' spring training home as well as the regular season home to the high Class A Tampa Yankees.

The program’s headquarters are based out of Warner Robins, GA, and is run by Andy Burress. The program has not only had some of the elite players from the state of Georgia, but has had players from Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, and more. Chain Baseball has quickly become one of the elite programs in the country and looks to continue its success as it becomes more involved in the state of Florida.

Below are some standouts from the event:

Brandon Howlett, INF, George Jenkins HS, FL (2018)
Overall Rank: 24
FL Rank: 14
6-foot-1, 180-pound Florida State recruit. Strong upper body, projectable. Showcased good actions and a strong arm from third base. Moves well for his size. During batting practice, Howlett showed some juice in his bat and drove the ball into the gaps. Ran a 6.98-second 60-yard dash time. Player to keep an eye on as he matures.
