On June 21, the PBR Texas team hosted the Central Texas Summer Open at Salado High School. The event featured prospects from all HS classes. The day started off by the players running a 60, then throwing from their defensive positions, followed by each player taking a round of batting practice. It was capped off by pitchers throwing bullpens. Today, we take a closer look at some of the standouts from the day

Ryley Leininger 3B / OF / Georgetown, TX / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 120 / POS: 4 One of the top performers at the Central Texas Open was Leininger. The physical LHH from Georgetown put up loud numbers across the board. The 6 '2 rising senior was 88 across the infield, showing more than enough arm for the hot corner.  In the box is where Leininger really shined. He maxed out at 101.7 for his top exit velocity and averaged over 91 mph. It is a powerful, but efficient swing from the left side. He has good natural rhythm, and stays balanced throughout the swing.  He impacted the baseball to all parts of the field and should have at least average power at the next level.  Overall, it was a really good day for the Central Texas standout.

Jorge Arcia C / 3B / St Pius X, TX / 2025 Arcia was another one that really showed well on both sides of the ball at Salado HS. The Houston backstop is a good athlete for a catcher and has a physical build with more room to grow.  He has a strong arm and quick release behind the plate, and was consistently in the 2.0’s. He has strong wrists and showed the ability to receive and stick the baseball. At the plate, Arcia showed his strength with a max exit velocity of 94.3. He starts with a slight leg kick to start his swing, and really rotates when that front foot hits. He has good bat speed and should develop into average power. Arcia plays with some intensity and has a lot of tools. He will definitely be one to follow moving forward.

Caden Boenig 1B / 3B / Austin - Westlake, TX / 2024 The rising Senior from Austin Westlake showed up and had a loud round of BP.  The LHH showed a short, direct swing that delivered high exit velos.  He starts with a leg kick to get his swing going, but he does a good job of staying short to the ball. He had a max exit velo of 94.4 and there is more in there with more reps and timing gets more precise. Boeing is a good athlete for his size running in the 7.1’s. Boenig has a chance to hit with some juice, and will be worth following this summer and fall.

Kash Wood 1B / OF / Sinton, TX / 2025 Wood had a standout day at Salado. The Sinton Pirate showed well in all facets, starting his day by running a 7.1 at 6’3 200. He was 93 from the OF and 85 across the diamond showing the required arm to play anywhere on the field.  At the plate, Wood had a solid round showing the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field. He had a max exit velocity of 92.9 mph while swinging with wood. He had great blast numbers, with his rotational acceleration maxing out over 30. It is a balance swing, with not a lot of wasted movement, but it packs a punch.  Overall, Wood had a great day and looks like the next power hitter to come out of Sinton.

Owen Curtis SS / RHP / Salado, TX / 2025 Another player who continues to improve in each viewing is Curtis. The rising Jr. from Salado has a projectable frame and some twitch to his game. He has some bat speed from the left side of the plate, and shows the ability to use the big part of the field and to drop the barrel and turn on one when it is time.  He still has plenty of strength to stack on a projectable frame. Kurtis also showed a lot of arm strength with an OF velo of 89 and infield velo of 86.  He hopped on the mound and was up to 82 as well, and that number has a lot of room to grow as he learns to sync his body more efficiently.  Overall, Curtis had a good day, and there is a lot more to come.

Bryce Schneider OF / RHP / Cedar Park, TX / 2025 One of the better athletes at the Central Texas Open, Schneider started his day by running an event best 6.84. He then showed his arm off by throwing 88 from the OF with good carry and accuracy.  At the plate, Schneider starts with a slight leg kick to get his swing going. He shows above average bat speed and the ability to turn the barrel.  He is still working on staying back and staying connected, but the athleticism and twitch are there.

Kannon Baird OF / RHP / Salado, TX / 2025 Baird continues to show better and better with each viewing. The rising Jr. has some twitch in his game and a projectable frame.  He has a short and compact swing that allows him to focus on hitting line drives to the big part of the field.  He is starting to learn to turn on the ball and drive it with authority to the pull side.  He has a strong arm from the OF with good accuracy and carry as well.  He continues to gain strength, and I expect he is going to have a big end of summer and fall.

Ricardo Seda SS / C / Lago Vista, TX / 2024 Seda had a solid day in all facets of the game. The rising Senior from Lago Vista showed his athleticism by running a 6.98. That carried over to his defensive workouts, as he showed good actions on the dirt and played with a lot of bounce.  He moved well behind the plate and showed a quick release on his throwdowns.  At the plate, he has a pretty simple, 50/50 set up with good rhythm.  He consistently found the barrel and had a max exit velocity of 92.9.  There is more strength to be gained by Seda and he will be a good follow this fall.
