Catcher Analysis: Week 2 of Fall College Prospect Program

Week two of the Fall College Prospect Program showcased six catchers over two days' time. Following is a look at the top performances behind the plate at Temple University (8/24) and at Widener University (8/25).
Top Prospect
C.J. Pruitt, Sun Valley HS, Class of 2015
Pruitt is an athletic backstop with good agility and a strong arm. He showcased pop times of 1.93-2.00 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch. Pruitt displayed a 2.05 in game pop time catching a would be base stealer and flashed a quick release on a snap throw to 1B. The right-handed hitter uses a square stance and a toe tap trigger to create a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Pruitt displayed a flat bat path and the ability to barrel the baseball consistently in batting practice. He went on to go 1-for-4 in game action at Widener University.
Best of the Rest
Jack Baer, Friends School of Baltimore, Class of 2014
Baer is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound backstop that has displayed pop times of 2.28-2.38 on throws of 68 mph at past PBR events. He was nursing a sore shoulder and was unable to throw. The right-handed hitter turned in a bat exit velocity of 72 mph and went on to go 2-for-6 with a double in game action over the course of the two day event.
David Clay, Owen J. Roberts HS, Class of 2014
Clay is a 5-foot-9, 185-pound C/1B that showcased 2.03-2.10 pop times on throws of 74 mph from the crouch. The right-handed hitter utilizes a slightly open stance and a strong lower half to create a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. He demonstrated the ability to barrel the baseball and get to extension consistently in a solid round of batting practice. Clay went 1-for-3 in game action at Widener University.
Nick Crane, Council Rock South HS, Class of 2016
Crane displayed pop times of 2.37-2.50 on throws of 63 mph from the crouch. The 5-foot-10, 145-pound backstop hits from a slightly open stance with no stride and limited lower half action to his swing. He barreled most baseballs during batting practice producing a bat exit velocity of 72 mph. Crane was 0-for-3 in game action at Temple University.
Tommy Nardini, Neumman-Goretti HS, Class of 2015
Nardini is a 5-foot-9, 210-pound right-handed hitter that showcased a short swing path from a slightly open stance. He utilized an 84 mph bat exit velocity to barrel the baseball repeatedly to all fields during his round of batting practice. Nardini went 1-for-5 with two walks in game action over two days. Defensively, he showcased pop times of 2.15-2.22 on throws of 72 mph from the crouch.
Alex Salesky, Wilson HS, Class of 2014
Salesky showcased pop times of 2.09-2.16 on throws of 75 mph from the crouch. The left-handed hitter battled through a pulled muscle to go 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly over two days of game action. Salesky utilizes a square stance and good rhythm to his swing to produce a bat exit velocity of 81 mph.
