California, Irvine - The annual PBR Tournaments California Summer Championships continued on Sunday with teams trying to play themselves into the playoff games on Monday. As we move towards bracket play on Monday we anticipated many standout performances and that’s exactly what we got on Day Four of the tournament.
Below are a handful of the Day Three standouts from the PBRT California Summer Championships.
'23 Logan Reddemann
Logan has shown out with the bat all tourney going a strong 5 for 12 through the first four days, but on Sunday he showed quality stuff on the mound. The '23 USD commit showed an easy quick arm within an athletic uptempo delivery. Went 2.1 shutout innings and struck out 5. His FB showed heavy action running to the arm side at 87-90 T91. His most used secondary was his SL at 77-80 which showed tight late break with present depth. Also mixed in a fading CH at 75-77.
'23 Isaiah Lane
Lane has also put together a solid overall tourney thus far going 5 for 12 as well and had himself 2 of those hits in yesterday's action. The '23 OU commit found the barrel on two low FBs that he was able to get down to and drive to the pullside. The hands work quick and direct to the baseball with no wasted movement. He has a lean and slender frame at 6'1/170 which looks to add which could increase future power.
'25 Josh Stonehouse
It's not our first look at Stonehouse as he has been a standout in past tourneys and showcases and is continuing to show well with his bat. For a '25 he as a bigger physical frame with strength already present. At the plate he shows quick hands that deliver the barrel on a on-plane path through the zone. It's the type of bat that projects to some high power potential.
'25 Michael Velardez
Last time we saw Velardez was at our 14u select tourney last summer where he was a standout then and is having himself a great tourney week as well. Is 6 for 9 so far this tourney and had two opposite field hits yesterday. It's a calm and relaxed approach at the plate. He trusts his path and isn't afraid to let the ball get deep and shoot it the other way. Velardez is an interesting '25 bat to keep an eye on for the next few years.
'24 Dylan Fien
Fien was an easy standout yesterday for SD Show. Starts with his physical 6'3 205lb build from behind the plate. Fien did a quality job with his framing/receiving and called a good game. At the plate he showed well from both sides showing easy rhythm within his swing. It's a smooth stroke with above average bat speed. The present bat combined with the frame is showing early signs of future big time power potential.
Quick look at 3 ABs from switch hitting ‘24 @UCLABaseball commit @dylanfien2005 of @sdshowbaseball. Physical 6’3/205 catcher with present receiving ability. Easy rhythm in swing. It’s a smooth stroke w/ big power potential. @PBR_California @LesLukach @ShooterHunt @PBRTournaments pic.twitter.com/SKqnWUfz3G

'23 Robert Ferrell
Last time we saw Ferrell was when he was a standout at our San Diego Fall Open last year. Robert has come up with some clutch hits for the SD Show this tourney. Yesterday he had a loud 2B down the LF line. Ferrell is an athletic UTL player with a quick bat. Ferrell also has some present speed to his game. Definitely an uncommitted '23 name to keep an eye on the rest of this summer and into the fall.
'23 Daniel Hernandez
Hernandez was one of the better arms we saw yesterday. Went 3 shutout innings for Team NorCal and struck out 3. He has an athletic high waisted build. Uses more of a unique deceptive delivery where he lands open and the arm works to an over the top slot. He pounded the zone mostly with a 2-pitch FB/CB mix. FB was 81-85 T86 with some ride through the zone producing a good amount of whiffs. CB was 69-70 and showed 11/5 shape and good depth.
‘23 Daniel Hernandez starting on the mound for Team NorCal and is looking really impressive. Lots of command of all his pitches and has generated a lot of whiffs. FB 81-84 T86, CB 70 pic.twitter.com/ZSlWfpelDu
