Cabot High School defeated Lonoke High School 9-8 in a spirited benefit game in front of a packed crowd for the battle of Lonoke County.

Lonoke scored 1 in the top of the 1^st when 2017 OF/RHP Haven Hunter reached on a walk and later scored on a single by 2018 CIF/RHP Kade Stuart.

Cabot answered with 3 runs in the first taking advantage of 3 walks and 2 errors. 2017 MIF Blake McCutchen started the inning with a double, the rest of the offense was very opportunistic.  They continued to take advantage of Lonoke mistakes in the 2^nd as they scored 2 more runs, on 1 error 2 walks and a hit by pitch. After two innings, the score was 5-1

Lonoke gets a run back in the top of the 3^rd, 2017 MIF Casey Martin reached on a fielder’s choice, stole 2^nd and 3^rd and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by 2018 CIF/RHP Kade Stuart.  Lonoke takes a 6-5 lead in the top of the 4^th.  The Jack rabbits scored 4 runs on one hit, 2 errors and 1 walk. The hit was big as 2017 OF Cameron Cole, with a 2 out 2 RBI double.

Cabot answered with a run of their own in the 4^th, 2018 CIF Connor Linton scored on a 2017 Logan Edmondson’s sac fly, after 4 innings of play the game was tied 6-6

Cabot scored 2 in the 5^th to take an 8-6 lead. 2020 OF Clayton Gray walked to lead off the inning, followed by 2017 MIF Blake McCutchen single. Gray scored on a 2020 OF Houston King fielder’s choice. 2018 CIF Dillion Thomas, reached on a bunt single to score McCutchen.

Lonoke answers with a run in the 6^th Cabot answered in the bottom of the 6^th, and we headed to the top of the 7^th with a 9-7 ballgame lead by Cabot.

Lonoke made a great attempt at a comeback, 2017 MIF Casey Martin started the inning with a double, and later scored on a single by 2017 OF Hunter Haven to close the gap to 9-8. 2018 RHP Brody Schluter induced a ground ball to escape runners on 1^st and third and preserve the victory.

Cabot and Lonoke next contest will be in the PBR Metro Tournament which starts Monday, as the official start to the high school season.
