Bob Spratt Talks Recruiting at Chestnut Hill College

Chestnut Hill College began playing baseball in 2008, and Head Coach Bob Spratt has been there for all 96 wins in program history. Spratt has guided the Griffins to the CACC Conference Tournament three of the past four years. While the Griffins did not have any prospects sign a national letter of intent during the early signing period, Spratt is actively recruiting prospects and will be adding as many as 20 players in this year's recruiting class.

Spratt took time to discuss the Chestnut Hill program and his recruiting philosophy. "We are actively recruiting student athletes that fit our college and system. Chestnut Hill College is a small liberal arts college in Philadelphia. Our baseball team has a team GPA of 3.2 and we have qualified for the CACC playoffs three of the past four years. Last year we finished as the runner up in the CACC tournament. We are expanding our roster for next season as well as adding 15 games against community colleges to help our young players to gain experience and make an impact at the Division II level."

The Griffins will graduate six players this spring, including three position players and three pitchers. According to Spratt, "Last year we brought in 17 new student athletes and several will make an impact this year. The added games and larger roster will play a big role in development. We compete in a wood bat region so there is an emphasis on pitchers that command the strike zone."
