The Bloomingdale Bulls were able to cruise past the Chamberlain Chiefs 10-3 in each teams’ second pool play game of the Saladino Tournament. After trailing two zero in the top of the second, the Bulls were able to score six unanswered runs over the next three innings and steal all the momentum from the Chiefs. Bloomingdale was then able to put an exclamation mark on the game by scoring four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The main difference between these two opponents seemed to be that Bloomingdale really took advantage of the strong wind blowing out to dead center field. They combined for six extra base hits and sacrifice flies that were hit deep into the outfield and pushed even further by the steady gusts. 2017 INF Cody Wilson (UNC-Ashville commit) had a good day at the plate as he went 2-4 with a triple and two RBIs. 2016 SS Austin James (Florida International commit) also was an asset for the Bulls as he went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly, a deep double to left field, and two RBIs of his own. 2017 OF Nate Chevalier seemed to be the table-setter for Bloomingdale in this victory as he went 2-2 with two walks and two runs scored.
