Big Year for Bay City

By Mike Penn
Director of Scouting

Baseball has been good to the Bay City and surrounding areas for years but this year is extra special. On November 14th a group of 7 baseball players, Zach Olszewski (Bay City John Glenn HS), Grant Miller (Bay City Western), Brett Adcock (Bay City Western HS), Luke Scharich (Bay City John Glenn HS), Grant Bridgewater (Bay City Western HS), Tyler Palm (Ogemaw Heights HS), and Sam Brooks (Bay City John Glenn HS) signed their National Letters of Intent to play college baseball.

Why is this group special? These players have played together since they were 12 years old, starting with the Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs.

All of the players above are present with the exception of Tyler Palm.

Mark Krzyziak, co-owner of Peak Performance Baseball, associate Texas Rangers Scout, and Vice President of Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs has watched these boys develop.  "I always thought we had a special group of boys in this age group.  But you will be hard pressed to find a group this talented from this area in the past 25 years."

"We are blessed to have players with great families and great work ethic. What you are seeing here is the payoff of all of the hard work and dedication these boys have put in over the years," said Krzyziak.

No. 3 Adcock and No. 19 Olszewski headline the group with their commitments to Michigan and Bethune Cookman respectively. After that Palm (Oakland) checks in at No. 22, Miller (Western Michigan) at No. 24, Scharich (Oakland) at No. 31, Brooks (Northwood) at No. 48 and Bridgewater (Lewis) at No 61.

With their commitment out of the way their work as players is just beginning. Many times during the week you will find these players, along with others whose time is yet to come, working out at Peak Performance. Perhaps we will see another big group of signees in the near future.
