Bayou Preseason ID: Pitcher And Catcher Analysis

The Bayou Preseason ID took place on Saturday January 14th, at Southland Field in Houma, LA. The open event saw players from all across the state of Louisiana in attendance.

Today we will look at the Catchers and Pitchers in attendance.

Catchers

+ Ritchie Boudreaux, C, ED White, 2021
A 5-foot-4, 130-pound catcher, small, athletic frame. Quality defensive catcher with soft hands, quick footwork, and quick, clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws, a positional velocity of 70 mph, and a pop time of 2.07 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, open setup, smooth load, short stride, and solid balance. Line-drive type hitter with early rhythm, length in swing, slightly uphill path, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 75 mph. Also posted an 8.20 60-yard dash.

+ Jake Dickinson, C, Brother Martin, 2019
A 5-foot-11, 185-pound catcher with strong, athletic frame, strength in wrists. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, short stride, smooth load and solid balance. Line drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, on plane path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 82 mph. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 72 mph and a pop time of 2.05. Also posted an 8.00 60-yard dash.

+ Dylan Trahan, C, Houma Christian, 2018
A 5-foot-8, 175-pound catcher, athletic build and strong lower half. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 80 mph and a pop time of 1.91. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, and short stride. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, a level to slightly uphill path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 84 mph. Also posted 8.1 60-yard dash.

Pitchers

+ Tom Biggs, RHP, West Monroe, 2019
Currently ranked No. 14 in Louisiana’s 2019 class. Strong 5-foot-11, 187-pound frame, athletic build. Long, loose arm action into ¾ release with lightning quick arm speed, and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands open and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 86-89 mph with heavy, hard sink and control. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with power action, tight spin, fastball arm speed and control at 72-75 mph. Also showed a changeup with fastball arm speed and arm side run at 82-83 mph.

+ Hayden Falgout, RHP, ED White, 2020
A 5-foot-5, 135-pound right-handed pitcher with a small, athletic frame. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with average, and regular effort. Some rhythm, level, closed shoulders, in-line direction, lands square, and finishes athletic. Fastball sits 77-79 mph with slight run and control. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with sharp break, fastball arm speed and strikes at 66-68 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and straight action at 70-71 mph. 

+ Jarian Green, RHP, Scotlandville, 2018
A 5-foot-11, 158-pound right-handed pitcher with an athletic build. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with average arm speed and regular effort. Some rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 81-82 mph with slight arm side run and control. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with gradual break and near fastball arm speed at 76-77 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed, fade action and control at 73-74 mph.

+ Peyton Landry, RHP, St. Thomas More, 2018
A 6-foot, 192-pound right-handed pitcher with a strong, athletic build. Short arm action into over-the-top release with average arm speed, and regular effort. Some rhythm, uphill shoulders, in-line direction, and lands square. Fastball sat 81-83 mph touching 85 mph with arm side run and control. Breaking ball showed 12/6 shape with early break, near fastball arm speed and control at 60-62 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and control at 64-65 mph.

+ Drew McDaniel, RHP, St. Thomas More, 2019
A 6-foot, 150-pound right-handed pitcher with a lean, projectable build. Long, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, uphill shoulders, falls slightly off to third base, lands square, and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 82-85 mph with downer action. Breaking ball showed 12/6 shape with sharp, late break, tight spin, fastball arm speed, and control at 68-70 mph. Also showed feel for a changeup with fastball arm speed and sinking action at 75-77 mph.

+ Blair Robichaux, LHP, ED White, 2020
A 5-foot-8, 160-pound left-handed pitcher with strong build. Long arm action, slight stab on backend into ¾ release with average arm speed, and regular effort. Some rhythm, level shoulders, falls slightly off to third base, and lands open. Fastball sat 68-70 mph with control. Breaking ball showed 1/7 shape with early break, near fastball arm speed and control at 60-62 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed, fade action and control at 62-63 mph.

+ Brock Theriot, RHP, Houma Christian, 2018
A 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher with a lean, athletic frame. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with average arm speed and regular effort. Some rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, and lands square. Fastball sat 78-80 mph with slight arm side run and control. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with early break, and near fastball arm speed at 65-66 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and control at 73-75 mph.

+ Mason Turner, RHP, Terrebonne, 2018
Nicholls State recruit, currently ranked No. 20 in Louisiana’s 2018 class. Lean 6-foot, 175-pound frame, athletic build, room to add strength and size. Short arm action into over-the-top release with average arm speed, and regular effort. Some rhythm, uphill, closed shoulders, in-line direction, lands soft and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 81-83 mph touching 85 mph. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with gradual break and near fastball arm speed at 71-72 mph. Also showed a change up with near fastball arm speed and arm side run at 73-75 mph.
