Aurora Preseason ID: Preview
February 1, 2022
This Saturday, Feb. 5, the PBR Illinois team is hosting the Aurora Preseason ID at the Sport Zone in Aurora, Ill. This is an open event for the high school classes of 2022-2025, and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.
For a closer look at the showcase details and the technologies we'll have on-site to assist our in-person evaluation for all in attendance, click here. For a complete look at those registered to attend this event, view the most up-to-date version of the roster by clicking here.
EVENT HISTORY
We've been hosting this event for the past three years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2021, there are already 28 commitments among them.
RHP/SS Anthony Edge (Jacobs) was among the top 2023's we saw at the event last year, earning himself an invite to the PBR Future Games as well as committing to Bradley earlier this fall.
A couple other players who took advantage of the event were Carthage commit AJ Gaca (St. Charles East) and Wisconsin-Oshkosh commit Trevor Morris (Neuqua Valley), landing on the 2022 radar and eventually as ranked players within the state.
We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.
2022 Roster
There are a number of players set to attend the event so far, one of the most notable names is 2023 LHP Luke Brown (Plainfield North) who comes in as the No. 97 ranked player in Illinois. Brown, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound southpaw, boasts a fastball into the mid-80s, also showing feel for both a sharp breaking ball and sinking changeup.
Luke Brown (3/13/21)
Oswego East's Josh, Mike and Zach Polubinski are an intriguing group of 2023s to be in attendance as well, all sporting 6-foot-3 frames with high levels of projection on top of respectable trackman data. Ryan Coon (Freeport) comes in as one of the higher level 2024s on the roster so far; the left/left outfielder possesses a quick, repeatable swing at the plate to go along with a 6.76 60-time, making him one of the fastest players in the 2024 class as of now.
Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.
CHECK-IN PROCESS
Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form.
