Saturday May 27th

3A Regional Finals

Northern Guilford          6
Topsail                          5

  + Northern Guilford wins the best of 3 series, 2-1
  + Northern Guilford advances to the State Championship series
  + Topsail took a lead in the 2nd with a 3 run burst, leading 3-1 after 2.
  + Northern Guilford answered with a 5 run third and held on to win
  + 2 run double by JT Jarrett was the big blow in the 3rd
  + Topsail made a run in the 5th, loading the bases with 0 outs.  A double play scored one and was followed by a single, cutting the lead to 6-5.

1A Regional Finals

North Stanly           1
Murphy                   2

  + Murphy wins the best of three series, 2-1
  + Murphy advances to the State Championship series
  + North Stanly jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 1 inning of play
  + Murphy answered with single runs in the 2nd and 3rd
  + Caleb Irwin worked 7IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 6K in the win

Friday May 26th

4A Regional Finals

New Hanover           1
Holly Springs            0

  + New Hanover wins the best of 3 series, 2-0
  + New Hanover advances to the State Championship series
  + The Wildcats have given up only 1 run in the state playoffs
  + 2019 Blake Walston struck out 8, while only giving up 6 hits
  + Max Hildreth singled in the 3rd driving in the game's lone run

TC Roberson           3
Lake Norman           1

  + TC Roberson wins the best of 3 series, 2-0
  + TC Roberson advances to the State Championship series
  + 2019 LHP Dylan Dickens worked into the 7th, giving up 0 hits and 1 run
  + Dickens sat 78-81 with a breaking ball that got tighter throughout the game
  + 2017 SS/RHP Garrett Blaylock got the save, striking out 2 and giving up 1 hit
  + Blaylock showed an above average breaking ball along with a fastball touching 88
  + 2018 C Aaron McKeithan went 1-4, with solid contact in 4 At-bats.  Had 2 RBI
  + JP Perez worked 6 innings in the loss, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 0K, 2BB

  + Topsail scored a walk-off run in the 7th on a passed ball

  + 2018 C Colby Emmertz, 1-4 with a double and RBI
  + Payton Phelps gets the CG win - 7IP, 5H, 2R, 1ER, 4K, 1BB
  + JC Ouzts gets the loss in the CG - 6.2IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, 7K, 4BB

  + Crest advances to the State Championship series
  + Crest exploded for 8 runs in their first 2 innings and a 6 run fifth to close the game
  + 2018 OF Riley Cheek, 1-2 with a double and 3 runs scored
  + 2017 C Logan McNeely, 2-2 with a home run, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored
  + Ben Ledbetter, 3-4 with a double, home run, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored

  + Dylan Patrick - 2-3 with 2 doubles and 1 run
  + Patrick Downum gets the CG win - 7IP, 6H, 0R, 4K, 2BB

R-S Central                     9
Lake Norman Charter     1

  + R-S Central wins the best of 3 series, 2-0
  + R-S Central advances to the State Championship
  + Jace Crowe gets the CG win, 7IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 5K, 1BB
  + Nate Collins - 2-4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI
  + Jake Laughter - 3-3 with a double and triple
  + Cam Snethen - 3-5 with a double and run scored
  + Wesley Smith - 2-4
  + R-S Central stole 4 bags on the night with Nate Collins getting 2

1A Regional Final

Rosewood           0
Whiteville            5

  + Whiteville wins the best of 3 series, 2-0
  + Whiteville advances to the State Championship
  + CG shutout for 2017 LHP MacKenzie Gore - 13 K's
  + 3 Hits and a pair of errors gave Whitville a 4-0 lead after 1 inning

  + North Stanly evens the best of 3 series at 1-1
  + Game 3 will be played on Saturday at Murphy
  + Moore worked a CG in the win - 5IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 5K, 2BB
  + Carson Lowder - 3-3 with a double and 3 runs scored

 

Thursday May 25th

4A Regional Finals

Holly Springs           0
New Hanover          2

  + New Hanover leads the best of 3 series 1-0
  + Game 2 will be played on Friday at Holly Springs
  + Caleb Bishop worked into the 6th with 8 K and only 1BB
  + Doubles from Brett Kemp & Johnathan Manis for New Hanover
  + Camden Munise worked a CG in the loss, allowing 1 ER and punching 9

Lake Norman            0
TC Roberson            11

  + TC Roberson leads the best of 3 series 1-0
  + Game 2 will be played on Friday at Lake Norman
  + Five run 2nd and 4th blew the game open
  + Garrett Blaylock homered twice, going 3-4 with 4 RBI
  + Jacob McCarthy and Collin Watt both homered as well
  + Eric Wellington gets the CG win, allowing one hit over 5 innings with 7K's

3A Regional Finals

Topsail                   1

  + Game 2 will be played at Topsail on Friday
  + Cameron Cotter CG win, giving up 4H and punching 7
  + JC Ouzts with a solo HR
  + Bryant Carrey - 1-4 with a run scored

  + Justin Bullock worked 6IP, 2H, 1R, and 12K in a no-decision

  + Game 2 will be played on Friday at Hopewell HS
  + R-S Central jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 2 innings
  + Dillon Phillips gets the CG win - 7IP, 3H, 4R, 4ER, 11K, 4BB
  + Jace Crowe - 3-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored

1A Regional Finals

Whiteville                6
Rosewood              5

  + Whiteville takes a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series
  + Game 2 will be played at Whiteville on Friday
  + 3 run sixth allows Whiteville to overcome a 5-3 deficit
  + Rosewood jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 3 innings of play
  + Harwood relieved Lawson after 4IP for Whiteville -- 3 scoreless innings of relief
  + Derek Neal homered in the loss
  + Whiteville gets the win while giving ace MacKenzie Gore another day of rest

  + 3 run 1st set the tone for Murphy on the night
  + Leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th, Murphy added a 3 spot to put the game away
