The #1 story from 2014 was Arkadelphia Badgers winning the second straight 4A State Title. This is only the 5th time any team has won consecutive state championships. They join Batesville, Fayetteville, Pine Bluff and Shiloh Christian in teams that have achieved this feat. The Badgers were a good mix of senior leaders and good young talent. The senior leaders were Jakahari Howell CF. Kris Oliver RF. Jacob Knight P/1B. Austin White C. John Franklin Matros P/SS. This group all continued their careers committing to Ouachita Baptist University. The young guys consist on Cutter Jester (MIF), Ty Koster (3B) Brandon Matros (LHP) and Brayden Bebee (RHP). Jester and Koster were leaders offensively with Jester setting the table and Koster leading the Badgers in homeruns and RBI’s. Matros and Beebe were big for them on mound with Beebe going (9-0) and Matros closing the door on the back end. They dominated 4A competition outscoring their opponents 37-6 in their three state tournament games including 15-1 win in the Finals against Ashdown.
