Arkansas Future Showcase: Quick Hits
October 21, 2017
The Arkansas Futures Showcase was hosted earlier today at Robinson High School. 30 players from the 2021 and 2022 class participated with players from all corners of the state, competing at the event. There was several players that are intriguing in the group and have put themselves on my radar moving forward. I will work through my scout notes over the coming days, below you will find the raw statistics for each participants.
2021 INF Reid Bowman from Little Rock Christian stood out with above average athleticism and advanced defensive actions. He ran a 7.28 in the 60 and threw the baseball across the infield 78 mph. He produced exit velocity up to 79 mph. During game play he showed feel for the barrel with load contact.
2021 INF Sawyer Bentley from Jonesboro HS led the event running a 7.1 in the 60 and throwing baseball 86 mph during defensive evaluations. He is a player to watch moving forward with his athleticism, arm action, and arm strength he has enough tools to become a follow for me. When he gets into season I am interested to see if the arm strength translates to the mound.

2021 C Cooper Oliphant from Searcy HS; impressed as he threw pop times from 2.00 to 2.44. He has to clean up footwork before he will throw consistently at the advanced level, but there is no denying his arm strength as he threw 79 mph across the infield. Offensively he showed bat speed with a slight uphill swing as he produced exit velocities up to 81 mph. A physical player to keep an eye on in the spring as he should challenge for playing time at Searcy as a freshman

2021 LHP Brandon Arledge from Sheridan HS, is a name to learn. The 6-foot left-hander commanded two quality pitches for a strike working off his fastball 78-81 mph with late cut action and complimented it with a curveball thrown 66-68 mph with 1/7 shape and late break. He has quick arm with a repeatable delivery.
