Fox Valley Crossovers

No. 20 Prairie Ridge (18-6; 10-1 Valley) defeated Crystal Lake Central 3-1 on Friday to remain ½ game ahead of Cary-Grove in the wild FVC-Valley race.

Fox Valley Valley

Cary-Grove (15-7; 9-1) defeated Jacobs 3-1 behind a five-hitter from Trojan senior ace Ryan Kaveney (7-0). Junior Danny Vilardo’s RBI single that turned into two runs when the Golden Eagle outfielder had the ball skip past him, was the big blow of the ballgame in the third inning. Jacobs falls to (13-9; 8-2).

Crystal Lake South (17-7; 9-2) moved into third place with a 3-0 white-wash of McHenry (15-9; 7-4). Gator junior Tyler Hall (4-1) fired a two-hitter at the Warriors. For the second game in a row Gator ace Jordan Van Dyck (7-0) led the Gator attack with three hits and two RBI.

Huntley (12-11; 5-6 Valley) defeated Dundee-Crown 5-0 behind a no-hitter from Red Raider senior right-hander Bryan Doherty (3-2). Doherty fanned 12 Chargers in his hitless performance on Friday in Carpentersville.  Huntley broke through with five unearned runs to give Doherty the victory in the top of the seventh.

Interstate 8 Crossovers

Lisle (24-4; 10-0 North) defeated No. 25 Herscher 5-3 in a battle of Interstate 8 Conference Division leaders on Friday in Kankakee County at Herscher. Lisle junior Jared Jayne (6-0) did it all for the Lions. Jayne went the distance against the hard-hitting Tigers and plated a pair of big runs. Herscher (23-5; 8-2 South) falls into a tie for first in the South with Manteno (24-2; 8-2 South).

Jackie Robinson North

Lane Tech (12-10; 8-0) bombed Mather 12-1 in five innings to keep its two-game lead over Taft and Clemente (13-4; 6-2). Indian starting pitcher Sean Pfieffer fired a three-hitter with six strikeouts at Mather.

Taft (20-2; 6-2) blew out Payton 10-3 behind Eagle junior Azeral Lugo. Lugo doubled triple and plated three Eagle runs to remain two games back of JR-North leader Lane Tech.

Jackie Robinson South

Simeon (17-6; 7-1) stayed atop the JR-South with a 7-2 win over Jones behind Wolverine freshman Terrance Robertson. Robertson fired a one-hitter at the Eagles with nine strikeouts. Louisville-bound Corey Ray had a big two-run double and drove home three Wolverine runs.

Morgan Park’s (20-5; 6-2) Thomas Clay did it all for the Mustangs as MP stayed in the hunt in the JR-South with a 12-9 win over Curie. Clay had four hits and five RBI to lead the Mustangs past the Condors

Metro Suburban

Glenbard South (14-8, 7-2) bombed Timothy Christian 16-0 in five innings behind EIU-bound Mitch Gasbarro. Gasbarro had quite a day. The future Panther fired a one-hitter at TC and went 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI for the MSC co-leaders.

Riverside-Brookfield (14-9; 9-3) blanked Illiana Christian 1-0 behind a three-hitter from Bulldog senior Alex Kuta. Kuta fanned nine Viking hitters. Illiana Christian falls to (15-7; 7-2).

Mid-Suburban Crossovers

Hersey (16-4; 6-3 East) romped past Palatine 9-1 behind a three-hitter from Huskie senior Trevor Haas.

Prospect (9-14; 6-3 East) continued to roll behind a combined 6-0 shut-out over Barrington. Knight sophomore Jordan Fedro (2-2) and Illinois State-bound RHP Jack Landwehr (save) fired a combined three-hitter at the Broncos.

Fremd (14-8; 7-2 West) shutout Rolling Meadows 1-0 behind a one-hitter from Viking starting pitcher Jason English (3-1). Rolling Meadows falls to (14-9; 6-3 East)

NIC-10

Rockford Boylan (15-7; 7-0) won for the 11^th straight time, blanking Rockford Jefferson 7-0 behind Judson College-bound Bryan Engelson. Engelson fired a three-hit shutout for the NIC-10 leaders.

Machesney Park Harlem (17-6; 6-1) slid past Belvidere North 3-2 in eight exciting innings on Friday. Iowa Western C.C.-bound Drake Robison (5-2) picked up the win in relief on the mound and singled home the game-winner for the Huskies in the bottom of the eighth. On Tuesday at 5 the Huskies will host NIC-10 leader Rockford Boylan in the NIC-10 game of the year.

S. Illinois River-River-Ohio

No.11 Benton (22-4; 9-1) lost 9-7 to Herrin. The SIRR-Ohio champs went deep four times on Friday. Bradley University-bound SS Ty Leffler hit his 16^th home run of 2012.Ethan Hughes and Beau Gibbs hit their fifth dingers of 2012 and Ranger leadoff man Cody Smith hit his first.

South Suburban Blue

Oak Forest (17-4; 10-2) shut out Bremen 6-0 behind Bengal senior Kyle Linares (1-0), who also had a perfect 3-for-3 night with an RBI as Oak Forest grabs a ½ game lead over Lemont in the SSC-Blue.

Southwest Suburban Blue

Joliet West (13-11; 5-3) crushed Lincoln-Way East 12-2 in five innings behind Tiger Matt Koran, who went deep with a man on and drove home three runs for West Tiger starting pitcher Anthony DiNardo (2-3). DiNardo went the distance, striking out seven Griffin (12-8; 4-3) hitters on Friday.

Southwest Suburban Red

No. 16 Lincoln-Way North (20-5; 7-0) blanked Thornwood 8-0 behind junior RHP Josh Reid (5-0). Reid struck out 10 Thunderbird hitters in his complete-game masterpiece. Phoenix juniors Alex Neufeld and Josh Handzik each went 3-for-3 with three RBI as the Phoenix pulled a half game ahead of Andrew (16-6; 6-0) in the SWSC-Red.

Suburban Christian Crossover

Marmion (12-9; 9-3 Blue) blanked Aurora Central Catholic 8-0 behind Cadet senior Pete Bowe, who doubled tripled and drove home three runs for the SCC-Blue leaders.

West Suburban Gold

No. 21 Hinsdale South (17-4; 8-2) defeated Morton West 10-0 in five-innings behind a no-no from Villanova-bound Emmanuel Morris (3-1). Morris struck out nine Mustangs in his five-inning no-hitter.

Nonconference

Loyola (9-16) did it again, stunning No. 23 Glenbrook South 7-0 behind a one-hitter from Rambler J.T. Trimble. Junior Danny Rafferty continued his torrid hitting with three more hits and a pair of RBI.
