BLOOMINGDALE – The No. 1 seed Alonso Ravens took on the No. 6 seed Wharton Wildcats in each teams’ district championship game. Wharton was the last seed in the district and was coming off two big upsets to try and win a district title. However, Alonso was able to squeeze by in an exciting 4-3 victory. 2017 LHP/OF and Florida commit Jordan Butler threw a complete game and gave up three runs with seven strikeouts. Butler also had two RBI’s at the plate.
Wharton came out fearless and struck first with a two run home run from 2017 OF Clayton Coringrato in the top of the first. After a scoreless second, the Wildcats picked up another run in the third off a Drew Ehrhard (2017 SS) double to left. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, Alonso was able to get all four runs in the third. Butler ripped a bases loaded single to center to bring in two runs, 2017 IF Jared DeSantolo had an RBI infield single, and another run came on a fielder’s choice.
Butler was able to cruise the rest of the way and appeared to get stronger as the game went on. Both teams will Advance to the regional tournament next week.
