Arkansas Scouting Director
The 2017 All-State Game was hosted on May 23rd at Lamar Porter Field in Little Rock. This game featured the top 20 players in the 2017 class and the top 20 underclassmen from all corners of the state. This event was hyped as one of the premiere events of the summer circuit and it lived up to the hype.
Events are generally graded on how good the pitchers are that attend, if that is the measuring stick, the All-State Game is off the charts. The game featured 18 pitchers with the average max fastball being 89 mph on the event.

2018 LHP Kaleb Hill-Watson Chapel HS; walked away from the night, as the player that increased his stock the most. Hill commanded the strike zone with a fastball which worked 89-91 mph with late life through the strike zone with an effortless delivery and a fast arm. He commanded his curveball that he threw 72-74 mph with 1/7 shape and late break.
2017 RHP Korrey Wasson- Lake Hamilton HS; was a name that may have been under the radar, if that is possible, but came away impressing the scouts in attendance. He pitched 90-92 mph with late arm side run with a quick arm action and a delivery with effort. He also located a curveball and changeup. The curveball was thrown 79-80 mph and the change up was thrown 77-78 mph.
The position players may have been over-shadowed by all the premium arms, but they still impressed on the day.
2017 CIF/RHP Paxton Wallace; impressed in his batting practice rounds driving the ball out of the ball park on a consistent basis. He is attacked the baseball with fast bat speed and strength from his shoulders. He worked with a slight uphill swing, maintaining balance through contact. In game, he showed the ability to take his batting practice to the field with loud contact consistently including a triple to the opposite field.
2017 C Denver Mullins and 2017 INF Parker Ribble homered in game to power the offense for the 2017 Roster. Both players are physical players with advanced bat speed and feel for the barrel. Mullins is committed to Crowder, and Ribble is committed to Southern Arkansas.
2017 MIF Casey Martin; continued to produce the skills I have seen consistently over the past three season. He ran well showing 4.08 home to first times. He showed the ability to make consistent loud contact in batting practice and in game. Defensively he played athletically through the baseball with a strong accurate arm.
2018 CIF Luke Johnson; impressed with his physical size and strength. His batting practice was solid showing some pull side power. It translated in game with a single and a loud out to right-field that 2017 OF Tyler Moreland made an impressive diving catch on.
2020 CIF/RHP Cayden Wallace; held his own as the youngest player in the event. He showed a well-rounded game playing solid defense, with an accurate arm with carry. Offensively he attacked the baseball with fast bat speed and an uphill swing. He projects to hit for power as he continues to grow and get stronger. On the mound, he worked up to 88 mph. An uncommitted prospect, but probably not for long.
2018 C Andrew Stanley and 2019 C Cason Tollett; did a sound job catching the power arms, they showed the ability to receive and effort and technique in blocking. Offensively they both were sound in batting practice. Stanley impressed with his line drive swing and his ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Tollett showed fast bat speed with an uphill swing. He made loud contact in game as well.
