All-State Game Player Reports:2017 Pitchers

The 2017 All-State Game was Tuesday, May 23rd hosted at Lamar Porter Field. Our staff assembled the top 20 2017 graduates and the top 20 underclassmen to compete in a 9-inning game. I will work through each player over the next week. Today I want to highlight the 2017 pitchers.
Austin Kelly-RHP-Robinson HS- Arkansas Commit
Kelly is a 6-foot-1 200-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and a muscular build. He showed advanced arms strength and a sharp slider. His fastball worked 90-92 mph with late life through the strike zone. His slider was thrown 79-81 with sharp 10/4 shape and late break. He struggled with command walking one batter and hitting another. He used a simple delivery, which was repeated consistently. When he cleans up his front-side he should command the strike zone more consistently. Overall Kelly has a quick arm with a firm slider.
Beaux Bonivillian-LHP-Bryant HS- Central Arkansas Commit
Bonivillian is a 6-foot 185-pound left-hander with an athletic frame and build. Mechanically sound, using consistent rhythm and repeated mechanics in his simple delivery. He was sound competing in the strike zone with three pitches. His fastball worked 86-88 mph with slight sink. His curveball worked 73-75 mph with 1/7 shape and gradual break. He also located a changeup thrown 77-78 mph thrown with fastball arm speed, and a slight arm side run. Overall Bonivillian is a good athlete which shows advanced pitch-ability with 3 solid pitches.
Logan Gilbertson-RHP-Cabot HS- Central Arkansas Commit
Gilbertson is a 6-foot-5 195-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. Gilbertson is an advanced pitcher with ability to locate three pitches on a consistent basis. His fastball worked 86-88 mph. He also located a curveball with 11/5 shape and gradual break 73-75 mph, and a change up with arm side run thrown 76-78 mph. Mechanically uses a simple tall and fall delivery which he repeats consistently with late hand separation. He has an athletic finish. Overall Gilbertson is a solid athlete which competes in the strike zone at a high level with 3 pitches.
Jackson Sloan-RHP-Fayetteville HS- Northwest Florida Commit
Sloan is a 6-foot-4 185-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. Sloan displayed a quick, loose arm working his fastball 87-89 mph. He also threw a sharp curveball with late break thrown 76-77 mph. Mechanically he repeats his tilt and topple delivery with late hand separation and slight head jerk. He finishes tall to the plate. He struggled to command the strike zone consistently but remained poised to work around 3 walks. Overall Sloan is a good athlete with a quick arm and a projectable frame.
Korrey Wasson-RHP-Lake Hamilton HS-Arkansas State Commit
Wasson is a 6-foot 185-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and a muscular build. He showed a fastball which worked 90-92 mph with late sharp arm side run. He complimented it with a CB 11/5 shape with late break thrown 78-79 mph with late break with minimum depth. He also threw a change up 77-78 mph. Mechanically he repeated his delivery with quick rhythm and a good amount of effort. Overall Wasson is a solid athlete with a quick arm and a feel for his curveball.
Andrew Roach-RHP-Springdale HS-Cowley County Commit
Roach is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He showed advanced pitch-ability from multiple arm slots. His fastball worked 86-88 mph with late sink when he pitched from a L ¾ slot, the high the slot the more his fastball flattened out. His slider was thrown 76-78 mph with late Frisbee action. He repeats his simple delivery with normal effort and consistent rhythm. He uses an athletic finish. Overall Roach is a good athlete which competes in the strike zone with two pitches, and is a high-level competitor.
Tyler Moreland-RHP-Genoa Central HS-Arkansas State Commit
Moreland is a 6-foot-4 200-pound right-hander with a large frame and muscular build. He worked from H ¾ arm slot with a fastball that was 84-87. He also threw his curveball 72-74 mph with 11/5 action. He repeated his simple delivery with normal rhythm, and effort, struggled to command the strike zone. Overall a physically gifted athlete with a quick arm, and some rawness to game.
Paxton Wallace-RHP-Greenbrier HS-Wichita State Commit
Wallace is a 6-foot-1 210-pound right-hander with a wide frame and a physical build. He pitched from a H ¾ slot with a short quick arm action. He showed advanced arm strength with a fastball which worked 91-94 mph with late life through the zone. He also showed a feel for a change up and curveball. The change up was thrown with near fastball arm speed 81-83 mph and the curveball was thrown 74-76 mph with 11/5 shape and gradual break. Mechanically he used a simple delivery which he repeated consistently. Overall a physically strong player with advanced arm strength.
