After a busy summer full of events, the Class of 2025 Player Rankings is long overdue for an update as these players have just started their junior years. There were a ton of new names who entered into the fold, as well as a number of others who continue to elevate their game, warranting plenty of movement and expansion (now 140 players) to the list. Most of the same names are still inside the Top-10 from the last update, but there's some shakeup within.

The Top-10 in the Class of 2025

+ RHP Fleming Hall (Trinity Presbyterian, 2025) remains at the top spot in the 2025 class in AL thanks to his low-90's fastball that he consistently pounds the zone with. An Auburn recruit, Hall bursted onto the scene during his freshman campaign in 2022, where he helped lead Trinity Presbyterian to the Class 3A State Championship. After being sidelined on the mound for the majority of the spring, the right-hander showed he was back to full-strength at the Area Code Games, where he worked 90-92 mph and used a short slider in the low-80's. Really athletic arm with competitive traits. See his report below:

"Hall (Trinity Presbyterian, 2025) has created plenty of buzz over the past couple of weeks with back-to-back quality outings in the playoffs as a freshman for the one of the better teams in Class 3A. Playing a two-way role for this this Wildcats' squad, the young freshman made a quick impression both at the plate in Game 1 and on the mound in Game 2. Standing an already impressive 6-foot-0, 175-pounds with proportional strength, Hall collected a pair of hits, including a double, in their first contest hitting towards the bottom of a talented order. He showed some fairly strong, quick hands and some feel for the barrel from the right side of the plate. Even more impressive was his outing on the mound in Game 2, working deep into the game and being efficient in the process. The freshman worked anywhere from 84-87 mph with serious arm-side action & sink and bumped an 88 mph in the 1st and on one of his final pitches of the game in the 6th inning. He paired that with a sharp, two-plane slider at 74-77 mph (2200 rpm) that spins best when more 76-77 mph. The young freshman was thoroughly impressive in both facets and has started to cement himself as one of the top 2025's in the state."

RHP Fleming Hall (8/3/23)

+ 3B/RHP Caleb Barnett (Mountain Brook, 2025) has quickly ascended to the top of the class in AL after moving from Pennsylvania roughly a year ago. An Alabama recruit, Barnett is one of the top two-way prospects in the class with upside on the both ends using a long, projectable 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame. The right-hander possesses immense power projection with the intent to turn the barrel with authority, and also works in the upper-80's on the mound with a clean operation. "Barnett (Mountain Brook, 2025) was another high-profile prospect that our staff was eager to see after moving in from Pennsylvania just a few months ago. Already committed to Alabama, Barnett certainly looks the part of a future middle-of-the-order hitter at the next level standing a very projectable 6-foot-5, 205-pounds. The sophomore turned in a loud round of BP at yesterday's event with easy juice coming off of his right-handed bat, resulting in a 98.3 mph EV, while turning the barrel with ease using present bat speed and advanced physicality for his age. He worked more to the pull-side in his approach, sending deep drives into the gaps with consistency and a simple set up from the right side of the plate. Barnett's barrel works mostly uphill through the zone and has tons of power potential given his stature and the way the ball seems to jump off of his barrel. Another prospect ranked inside the Top-5 in his respective graduation class."

3B/RHP Caleb Barnett (1/7/23)

+ C/RHP Ma'Kale Holden (Thompson, 2025) slides up a few spots to No. 3 in this update after a noteworthy summer on the circuit. An Alabama recruit, Holden is another talented two-way prospect that stands a physical 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with proportional strength. From the right side of the plate, he's shown glimpses of premium power over the past year and is an impact middle-of-the-order type hitter. He's been up to 87 mph on the mound with solid secondaries, but the bat is an exciting tool with plenty of ability behind the plate, as well. See his report from earlier this spring below:

"Holden (Hoover, 2025) is regarded as a Top-10 prospect in the sophomore class in AL with a strong two-way skill set that he displayed in last night’s contest. Getting the nod on the mound in a big matchup between a pair of Top-10 teams in Class 7A, the Alabama recruit labored a bit throughout his outing and scuffled with some command, but was still fairly effective yielding just one run. The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder lived in the mid-80’s with his fastball and touched 87 mph in the early going. His go-to offering that got him out of a pair of jams was a sharp breaking ball at 74-76 mph that flashed late, downer action and collected some swings-and-misses. Possibly even more impressive, Holden took some quality at-bats hitting in the cleanup spot of a strong and talented lineup, and looked the part of a middle-of-the-order hitter in the process. Although he didn’t show up in the box score offensively, the sophomore showed big gap-to-gap power with a deep drive that died at the warning track for a loud fly out to center field. He looks natural hitting from the right side, and is fast getting his barrel to the point of contact where the ball seems to jump off his bat."

C/RHP Ma'Kale Holden (8/2/23)

+ OF Damien Gatson (Mobile Christian, 2025) remains inside the Top-5 in this update coming in at No. 4 after a strong spring and summer with the bat. A South Alabama recruit and former PBR Future Gamer, Gatson is a dynamic athlete that looked much stronger this spring and now stands 5-foot-11, 175-pounds. He possesses a smooth, compact swing from the left side of the box with a good feel to hit, and uses his athleticism to his advantage in his overall offensive profile. Sizable upside with above-average tools across the board. See his report below:

"Gatson (Mobile Christian, 2025) is another rising sophomore who has done more than hold his own to open up his week at the PBR Future Games. Possessing a smooth left-handed stroke with an athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, Gatson reached base twice in his three at-bats with a sharply-hit single back up the middle and a walk in his next at-bat. Works more short-to-long in his operation that has shown the ability to produce firm contact (97.8 mph) with ease. Naturally-gifted athlete that glides around the base paths with 6.90-speed. Continues to show why he's regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2025 class in AL."

OF Damien Gatson (3/14/23)

+ LHP Mason McCraine (Glenwood, 2025) may hold some of the highest upside in the 2025 class in AL as he comes in at No. 5 in this update. An Auburn recruit, McCraine stands a projectable, long-limbed 6-foot-6, 195-pounds and has showcased a fastball that has worked into the upper-80's. He features a big 12-6 breaking ball as his primary secondary offering that has a chance to be a solid put-away offering. Another former PBR Future Gamer, McCraine holds a very high ceiling and likely has much more to come in the future. See his report below:

"McCraine (Glenwood, 2025) was able to work a much cleaner second frame for Team Alabama showing command of a three-pitch mix that should only continue to get better as he continues to develop and grow into his long 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame. Standing on the mound with a long-limbed frame, McCraine certainly looks the part of a future frontline arm at the next level with a fastball that worked up to 86 mph and looked a bit quicker coming out of an over-the-top arm slot. The southpaw also dropped in some quality breaking balls showing some gradual shape and bigger break. Showed the ability to turn over a few changeups in the upper-70's that killed spin. Intriguing rising sophomore with quality stuff and projectable frame."

LHP Mason McCraine (7/27/22)

+ RHP Brady Wilson (Decatur Heritage, 2025) possibly makes the biggest jump inside the Top-20 as he rises to No. 6 in the class after a breakout spring and summer. A former PBR Future Gamer from this summer, Wilson bursted onto the recruiting scene with a dominant showing at the event where he touched 91 mph using his 6-foot-6, 220-pound XL frame, which led to his commitment to Auburn just a few weeks later. He features a sharp slider in the mid-70's and a changeup at 77-80 mph, both of which profile as above-average secondary offerings in the future. See his report from this summer below:

"Uncommitted. 6-foot-6, 220-pounds. XL frame with still much more room for added mass and should continue to fill out his build. Pitched in the middle innings for Team Alabama and worked a pair of scoreless frames where he allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out three. The right-hander drives the ball down the mound and showed comfortability in a mostly two-pitch mix and was consistently on the attack throughout his two innings. While sitting mostly 87-89 mph, Wilson showed the ability to reach back and grab a couple of 90’s and 91’s during the outing; the offering has late tail and sink when it's located to the bottom of the zone. He featured a mid-70s slider with late, downer action and was located in the zone and flashed the occasional upper-70s changeup with typical fade to it. Plenty of intriguing traits to like moving forward."

RHP Brady Wilson (7/27/23)

+ C Zackary Johnson (Bob Jones, 2025) made a big jump to No. 10 in the previous update a few months ago, and makes another sizable jump to No. 7 in this update. Another PBR Future Gamer from this past summer, Johnson continued to do what he's done best over the past year in numerous looks, and that's hit at a high level against all types of arms. Johnson accumulated numerous hits at the event, including a home run, and eventually committed to Alabama just a few weeks later. He has shown a knack for finding the barrel from the right side, and is equally as talented behind the plate with sub-1.90 pop times from this summer. See his report from this summer below:

"Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Lean strength to frame with room to continue to add; solid athleticism for catcher. Quickly has become one of our favorite overall hitters in the 2025 class in AL; continues to hit, hit, and hit and has done it against some of the strongest competition hitting in the middle of the order for a powerhouse 7A program. Posted a solid workout all-around on Wednesday with a quality round of BP, sub-1.90 pop times, and a 7.14 60 YD, then carried it over into gameplay where he had the biggest swing of the day for Team Alabama. In his final at-bat of the day, the right-hander was able to pull his hands in and get the barrel to an elevated, inside fastball and blasted it over the LCF wall for a ringing home run. Possesses good rhythm to his overall offensive operation and can lag the barrel with present bat speed. Intriguing power potential and is equally as talented from the crouch, but can also play outfield, as well. Good one to know with the all-important August 1st date approaching."

C Zackary Johnson (7/26/23)

+ OF/RHP Wade Shelley (Headland, 2025) is another dynamic two-way talent that has really seen that bat come along over the past year. An Auburn recruit, Shelley comes in at No. 8 in this update after helping lead his high school club to a Class 3A State Championship this spring. Listed at 6-foot-0, 180-pounds, Shelley is an explosive athlete with carrying tools across the board, and has shown the ability to work up to 91 mph with his fastball on the mound. He possesses explosive hands through zone with the ability to impact the baseball at a high level. See his report below:

"Shelley (Houston Academy, 2025) has created plenty of buzz over the past year with some intriguing tools and athleticism as a young two-way prospect. The freshman and current No. 1 prospect in the Alabama class came on in relief to pitch the 7th frame and showed off a really fast arm with an electric fastball for his age. In this outing, Shelley struggled to find the zone (5/16) throughout his inning, but the freshman worked at 87-88 mph and reached back and grabbed a 91 mph on a two-strike offering early on in his inning. We didn't see it in-game as he worked exclusively with the fastball, but Shelley showed a sharp breaking ball at 70 mph & a changeup in warm-up's. He didn't get much help with a pair of errors behind him when the ball was put in play, so he could've been out of the inning before he surrendered a few runs. It's still really impressive arm strength that has a chance to be a real special arm when in the zone."

OF/RHP Wade Shelley (6/8/23)

+ RHP Bryant Sparkman (Decatur Heritage, 2025) makes his way back into the Top-10 in the sophomore class and slides in at No. 9 in this update. Now ranked as the top uncommitted prospect in the class in AL, the right-hander has strong 6-foot-2, 195-pound build and an overpowering fastball that operates in the upper-80's and has touched 91 mph this spring. His primary secondary offering is a hard-biting curveball with 11-5 shape that ranges 75-78 mph, and tunnels well off of his fastball. See his report from earlier this spring below:

"Sparkman (Decatur Heritage, 2025) shows plenty of upside on the mound as a sophomore with a 6-foot-2, 185-pound, longer-limbed and leaner frame. Sparkman displayed smooth mechanics and easy operation down the mound while working with quick tempo and a higher-¾ arm slot. The fastball played to all quadrants of the strike zone and showed the ability to locate the pitch up in the zone with some late life as the offering worked up to 91 mph in the early innings, sat 88-90 mph throughout. Showed a hammer curveball at 75-78 mph with harder, late-breaking action that created whiffs and kept opposing hitters off balance at times. Swings the bat with intent at the top of the Eagles lineup as he had several big hits for the Decatur Heritage offense in the series, none bigger than his go ahead solo shot to lead off the top of the tenth inning in game two to keep their playoff hopes alive. High level follow on the mound in the sophomore class in AL."

RHP Bryant Sparkman (4/28/23)

+ OF Eric Hines (American Christian, 2025) makes the biggest splash in this update, as he makes his debut at No. 10 after a noteworthy spring and summer on the circuit. Listed at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, the uncommitted outfielder is a dynamic, three-sport athlete that possesses immense upside on the diamond. Playing as a sophomore this spring for powerhouse American Christian, Hines helped lead his club to a deep playoff run and showcased premium run-producing ability, including two home runs in their second round matchup. There's plenty of power projection offensively with present bat speed and the ability to drive the ball gap-to-gap.
