Prep Baseball Report Mississippi released its initial Class of 2021 Rankings, after our scouting staff tracked down the top emerging talent at high school games, tournaments and showcases during the spring and summer months.

Today we take a look several prospects that made their way into the initial list.

 

Riley Maddox SS / OF / Jackson Preparatory, MS / 2021

Lean, athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with room to continue to fill. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance, then uses a simple toe-tap load, short stride and balanced.  Smooth, rotational path, line drive power producing an exit velocity of 82 mph. Infielder that worked into athletic fielding position with smooth footwork and clean exchange into a high-3/4 release that produced a positional velocity of 75 mph. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash.

Braden Montgomery OF / SS / Germantown , MS / 2021


Maturing, athletic 5-foot-8, 125-pound frame, room for continued growth. Quality defender that plays through ball with smooth, fluid rhythm, clean midline exchange into a long loose arm stroke with accuracy and carry, posting a positional velocity of 87 mph. Switch hitter that hits from tall, balanced, athletic setup. Hands work back and down on load with loose rhythm and short stride. Line drive/ground ball type approach, with short path into slightly uphill finish and developing strength, produced exit velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.52 60-yard dash.

Branson Tadlock 3B / RHP / Ridgeland , MS / 2021

Physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame, exhibited fluid actions both defensively and offensively. On the infield, moved fluidly for his age and size with adequate arm strength posting a positional velocity of 78 mph. At the plate the right-hander showed potential showed a balanced approach with strength in swing posting an exit velocity of 87 mph. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Right-handed pitcher works from a high slot with level shoulders, drop and drive delivery and athletic finish off to first base side. Fastball was 75-77 mph and was commanded around the zone. Curveball flashes depth at 67-68 mph and changeup at 72-73 mph with slight arm side fade.
