4A District Roundup

The 4A Baseball Districts took place on Saturday with 8 of the 32 teams playing their way into the Final 8, which is set to begin on Friday May 19th. Here is a look at district action from around the state on Saturday.
4A District Roundup:
Region 1
Denver North 15 Conifer 3
Denver North put up 10 runs in the first inning to win the first game of the region 1 playoffs for 4A. The Vikings were led by Judah Wilbur (2017) who hit 2 bombs and drove in 6 RBI’s.
Thompson Valley 12 Falcon 2
Thompson Valley came out hot scoring 4 in the bottom of the 2nd and adding another 7 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to beat Falcon in 6 innings. Thompson Valley’s Matt Berg (2017) and Tristan Schatz (2018) combined for 7 RBI’s.
Thompson Valley 10 Denver North 6
In the game to determine who goes to the Final 8, Thompson Valley was trailing 4 to 0 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning and then scored 6 runs. Denver North answered by scoring 2 in the top of the 4th to tie the game, but then Thompson Valley scored 3 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th. Mike Berg (2017) for Thompson Valley went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s.
Thompson Valley advances to the Final 8.
Region 2
Golden 10 Canon City 3
The hosts, Canon City, were knocked out of the playoffs in the first game by Golden. Golden was led by Ben McLaughlin (2020) who went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.
Longmont 9 Green Mountain 3
Longmont was in charge of the game the whole way scoring runs in every inning but 3, to beat Green Mountain. Longmont’s Noah Befus (2018) had a day at the plate going 3 for 5 with an RBI.
Golden 11 Longmont 9
In the championship game for region 2, Golden was leading 4 to 2 going into the top of the 6th inning, when Longmont turned it on and scored 5 in the top of the 6th to make it 7 to 4 going into the bottom half. Golden then put up a 3 spot to tie the game going into the final inning. Longmont scored 2 runs, but Golden answered in the bottom of the 7th scoring 3 wins to win the region 2 championship. Goldens’ Pablo Simon (2018) was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.
Golden advances to the Final 8.
Region 3
Evergreen 3 Palisade 2
Host Palisade was knocked out of the tourney in the first game by Evergreen. Evergreen pitcher Ben Muscatello (2018) threw a complete game allowing just 2 runs in the first inning.
Fort Morgan 9 Pueblo East 4
Fort Morgan scored 3 in the 1st and another 6 in the 3rd and ran away with their playoff game. Fort Morgan was led by Trevor Shurtleff (2017) who was 3 for 4, with a home run and 2 RBI’s.
Evergreen 16 Fort Morgan 5
With the game tied at 0 after 2 innings, Evergreen went off scoring in every inning after. Highlighted with a 7 run top of the 7th to win the region 3 championship. Evergreen was led by Ryker Eagen (2017) who went 2 for 5 with 4 RBI’s.
Evergreen advance to the Final 8.
Region 4
Air Academy 4 Rifle 0
The host Kadets scored 3 in the bottom of the 4th to win the first game of the tournament, they were led by Kyle Chasse (2017) who scored 2 runs, and drove in 1.
Cheyenne Mountain 11 Pueblo County 8
Air Academy 7 Cheyenne Mountain 2
Air Academy scored in every inning but the 2nd to go on and win the region 4 championship. The Kadets were led by, Sam Cregan (2017) who dropped 2 bombs and had 3 RBI’s.
Air Academy advances to the Final 8.
Region 5
Windsor 9 Wheat Ridge 2
Host Windsor beat Wheat Ridge on Saturday in the first game of the region 5 tournament, 9-2.
Thomas Jefferson 10 Summit 1
Thomas Jefferson was trailing in the game 1 to 0 going into the top of the 6th inning and then exploded to score 3 in the 6th and 7 runs in the top of the 7th. TJ was led by, Mason Gawler (2019) who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.

Region 6
Silver Creek 7 Lewis-Palmer 6
Silver Creek had to go and score a run in the bottom of the 8th inning to win their game. Silver Creeks’ Max Browne (2017) did the damage going 1 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and a jack.
Holy Family 11 Northridge 8
Silver Creek 8 Holy Family 3
Silver Creeks’ Cole Winn (2018) led the charge on the mound going 5 innings giving up just 3 hits with 1 earned run, to go along with 11 strike outs, as Silver Creek advanced to the final 8.
Silver Creek advances to the Final 8.
Region 7
Valor 10 Eagle Valley 0
Valor behind Noah Kuzma (2018) beat up on Eagle Valley. Noah was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and a home run.
Ponderosa 9 Palmer Ridge 2
Valor 12 Ponderosa 2
Valor advances to the Final 8.
Region 8
Pueblo West 11 Montrose 1
Ian Garcia (2017) of Pueblo West had a great game going 3 for 4, with a home run and drove in 4 runs.
Mountain View 4 Roosevelt 2
Roosevelt’s Sammy Grim (2019) went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s to lead the Rough Riders.
Pueblo West 5 Mountain View 4
Host Pueblo West won the championship of region 8 over Mountain View. West was led by, Ian Garcia (2017) again going 3 for 4, scoring 2 runs, and driving in 1.
