2026 Overall Rankings Updated & Expanded

Shooter Hunt
Vice President, Scouting

More than any class before, this 2026 group has shown a willingness to entertain in the spotlight and relishes the biggest moments. Well-equipped with dynamic prospects who feature ultra high ceilings, this new group of sophomores already boasts a plethora of household names. But don’t mistake that for a lack of discipline or hard work. This collection of athletes is equal parts ballplayer as it is elite talent. They are just as willing to hit behind runners, cross count pitch, or take the extra base, as they are to tilt the shoulders, light up the radar gun, and flip the bat.

 The impact depth is astounding.

More than 10 players were considered for the top overall spot with heated debate and cases built for all. There are sure to be changes to the list over the next three years with players continuing to build on their talent and new ones being discovered, but after a jam-packed summer of action, Florida-grown SS Jacob Lombard (Gulliver Prep HS) ascends to the head of the class. Furnished with a full array of tools, the impact potential of the Miami native’s right-handed bat, and the potential of sticking at shortstop long term provided (presently) the strongest case for jumping to the front of the line. The brother of New York Yankees’ 2023 1st round pick, George Lombard, he holds similar attributes with (scarily) a potentially higher ceiling.

Still, three years leaves plenty to be decided, and the top spot is not without challenge from a slew of others from coast to coast.

Jacob Lombard (June 2023)
