2024 All-Prep Baseball Team
July 11, 2024
On Monday, we announced Konnor Griffin (Jackson Prep HS, MS) as the 2024 Prep Baseball Player of the Year. Today, we're really putting a bow on the 2024 high school season by announcing our All-Prep Baseball Team, a roster of 26 athletes from across the country, who starred this season, and the majority of them actually earned their state's individual Player of the Year honor as well.

CATCHERS
Cade Arrambide C / Tomball, TX / 2024
LSU COMMIT For the first time since 2013, Tomball HS claimed the UIL 6A state championship, and their backstop Arrambide was at the center of the Cougars’ run. He collected over 30 extra-base hits on the season, including 12 home runs, which was something he’d become known for over the years as a prospect. That, and his huge arm strength he offered from behind the plate too. He could do a little bit of everything at the prep level, and that helped him generate one of the most impressive stat lines among catchers nationally, all while playing a tough Texas schedule, ultimately guiding Tomball to the state title too. |
Hogan Denny C / Mooresville, IN / 2024
INDIANA COMMIT Mooresville made its first-ever state finals appearance in 2024, and their star catcher was a primary reason why. Denny earned the Prep Baseball Indiana Player of the Year award in June, and he’s earned a spot on our national All-Prep Baseball Team now as well, after hitting .480 this spring with 26 extra-base hits (10 HR) and an OPS of 1.573. Denny also set an IHSAA record too, and surprisingly it wasn’t with the bat. He was leaned on heavily as a pitcher this spring as well, and he set the single-season saves record along the way, locking down 11 saves total, punching out 85 batters in 45 innings against just 15 walks and he finished the spring with a 0.71 ERA. |
FIRST BASE
Eli Evans 3B / 1B / Farragut, TN / 2024
EAST TENNESSEE STATE COMMIT Farragut had one of the most talent-laden lineups in the country this spring, and it was Evans who found himself in the middle of it. The Admirals sought out their third straight Class 4A title and that’s ultimately what Evans helped the program achieve. After a rigorous start to the season against out-of-state competition, Farragut returned home and won each of its games against in-state opponents thanks in part to the production of Evans, who got even hotter once the state tourney rolled around. In it, Evans tallied seven hits in four games, three of which game in the championship against Nolensville HS. It was a competitive race for this first baseman’s slot on this roster, but our staff elected to award it to the ETSU recruit for his 67 RBIs (which leads all players on this roster), 1.546 OPS, and the 42 walks he earned in addition to the 29 extra-base hits he collected. |
INFIELDERS
Konnor Griffin OF / SS / RHP / Jackson Prep, MS / 2024
LSU COMMIT The 2024 Prep Baseball Player of the Year earned an accolade like that precisely because of his ability to do anything he’s asked – and at an elite level. Griffin could have earned a place on this roster at either outfield or pitcher too. It was a special season and he’s building a legacy as one of the best prep players to come out of Mississippi too. Here’s how he finished his high school career as a senior at Jackson Prep: .559 batting average, .690 OBP, .966 SLG, 76 steals, 67.2 IP, 0.72 ERA, 107 K. He shattered many Jackson Prep records that just might stand the test of time, like stolen bases (120). And yet, he was also one of the most dominant pitchers in the country as well, K’ing 107 batters in 67.2 innings, limiting opponents to .128 average. It was simply a special season for the Ole Miss commit and one of the most memorable prep careers to come out of Mississippi. |
Bryce Rainer SS / RHP / Harvard-Westlake, CA / 2024
TEXAS COMMIT The No. 1-ranked prep player on our board earned his place here – he’s not here on prospect pedigree alone. He’s starred inside one of the most star-studded programs in the country, Los Angeles’ Harvard-Westlake HS, and he’s done so since his freshman season. Firstly, he made his name as a pitching prospect, but he went on to elevate himself into a true position player prospect as a left-handed-hitting shortstop, looking the part of a first-round selection on either side of the ball. As a senior for the Wolverines, he hit .505 (49 hits) while playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules, and he punched out 35 batters in 23 innings, accruing nine saves. Rainer is almost guaranteed to be one of, if not the, first high school player taken in Sunday’s MLB Draft. |
Tyson Lewis SS / OF / Millard West, NE / 2024
ARKANSAS COMMIT Lewis was certainly a legitimate prospect prior to his exciting performance at February’s Super 60, but he managed to take all of the momentum he generated from that event to steamroll through the Nebraska high school season with it. Lewis was sensational this spring, slugging over .900 with 62 hits in 38 games, and 29 of those hits went for extra bases (8 HR), and he also swiped 31 bases. Lewis was also a major factor in Millard West’s return to the state’s Class A title game where they faced Lincoln East in a repeat of the 2023 championship game, only this time the Wildcats won, 4-3. Lewis’ offensive heroics vaulted them back to state to claim the program’s second championship in three seasons, and it also vaulted him onto our All-Prep Baseball Team roster at one of the toughest positions to place at. |
Cade Brown 3B / Parkview, GA / 2024
GEORGIA COMMIT After nearly earning the Prep Baseball Georgia POTY award as a junior in 2023, Brown was back in 2024 asserting himself as arguably the most feared hitter in the state of Georgia, playing for one of its powerhouses in Parkview. Brown went on to win his state’s award, but he also claims a spot here too, connecting for 14 home runs which was among the most in the nation. Brown slugged over 1.000 and plated 50 runs for the Panthers in his senior season, ending a stellar career on an individual high note, even if Parkview’s season ended earlier than he and the rest of his Panthers teammates had hoped. |
Tate Southisene SS / Basic Academy, NV / 2025
USC COMMIT Southisene is one of three players on this list who just finished their junior seasons, and his stats leapt off the page for Basic Academy this past season, enough so that he went on to earn the Prep Baseball Nevada Player of the Year award at the end of the state’s spring season. Southisene recorded 21 extra-base hits as a junior in Nevada playing a strong schedule, and he walked 18 times and K’d just 10. Southisene was clutch, too, driving in 49 runs and scoring 40 times himself. |
Theo Gillen OF / INF / Austin Westlake, TX / 2024
TEXAS COMMIT Gillen is one of the best bats in this year’s MLB Draft class, and he’s another player in this group who could have earned his place in either the infield or the outfield. Gillen slugged seven homers for Austin Westlake in 2024, adding another 10 extra-base hits on top of that, hitting .415 with 29 steals on top of it. His athleticism helps him project defensively at an up-the-middle position on defense, though the left-handed swing is what helped him crash this group, and what has him projected to be a first-rounder come Sunday. |
OUTFIELDERS
Luke Dickerson SS / OF / Morris Knolls, NJ / 2024
VIRGINIA COMMIT When you tie a New Jersey record that Mike Trout holds, you start to garner some extra attention, and that attention is well-deserved in Dickerson’s case. He tallied 49 hits in 2024 as a senior at Morris Knolls and 18 of those went for home runs, which leads all players on this roster and it might have even been the most in the nation, and it tied Trout’s single-season record in the state. He also doubled 11 times, which boosted his slugging% to 1.086 on the year and he drove in 46 runs, scored 64 times, and stole 27 bags for the back-to-back state champs. |
Slade Caldwell OF / Valley View, AR / 2024
OLE MISS COMMIT Caldwell has been one of the most popular prep players in the Deep South, and he polished off a stand-out prep career emphatically, winning the 5A state championship with Valley View while setting program and state records across numerous stat categories. He stole 51 bases this season aided by an on-base percentage of .708, which is the new single-season record in Arkansas, and he hit .488. |
Dante Nori OF / Northville, MI / 2024
MISSISSIPPI STATE COMMIT Nori helped lead a stacked Northville squad to a state championship in Michigan this past season, the program’s first ever. He hit .477 and reached at a .575 clip with 23 extra-base hits (14 doubles) and 20 steals, earning the Prep Baseball Michigan Player of the Year award along the way. Nori is another graduating senior on this list who has a chance to be drafted as a first-rounder, currently ranked at No. 43 overall on our Draft HQ Top-150. |
Braylon Payne OF / Elkins, TX / 2024
HOUSTON COMMIT Elkins has been the home to some tremendous prep talent over the years, and yet it’s now Payne who owns the program’s all-time hits record, passing future big leaguers Matt Carpenter and James Loney, among others. Payne achieved the feat following a strong senior spring in which he tallied 51 more hits, finishing the season hitting .531 total. As good as he is offensively, Payne also offers elite speed on the bases and out in center field, which has prompted him to garner real Major League looks this spring, and he enters MLB Draft weekend ranked No. 27 on our board. |
PITCHERS
William Schmidt RHP / Catholic B.R., LA / 2024
LSU COMMIT We don’t have an official ‘pitcher of the year’ here, but if we did, it would have probably been Schmidt. That shouldn’t really be a surprise of any kind, if you’ve been following the sport from really any angle. Schmidt is one of the top-ranked pitching prospects in the Class of 2024, thus one of the top prep arms available in the MLB Draft, and he held up his end of the bargain for a Catholic B.R. squad that finished No. 2 overall on our national top-50 at the end of the season. The Bears played a seriously tough schedule and Schmidt helped them weather those storms, helping steer them into a state championship in a victorious 39-2 season. And we say all this without yet substantiating his spot on this list statistically. Schmidt struck out 102 batters in 62.2 innings while walking only 17, and he limited opponents to a .093 batting average against which equated to a minuscule ERA of 0.44 – again, while facing some of the top teams nationally. |
Dasan Hill LHP / Grapevine, TX / 2024
DALLAS BAPTIST COMMIT Hill was an intriguing left-handed pitching prospect around this time last year, sneaking into our inaugural Prep Baseball All-American Game in Milwaukee. Well, that only just signaled what more he had in store for scouts and Texas batters in 2024. Grapevine’s ace was nearly untouchable, garnering a whopping 155 punch-outs in 77.2 innings as a senior, finishing the spring with a 0.99 ERA. The swing-and-miss abilities punctuated his rise into one of the best prep lefties in this upcoming draft class, and it earned him a place among this special group too. |
Cameron Caminiti LHP / OF / Saguaro, AZ / 2024
LSU COMMIT Caminiti had lofty expectations to live up to as the top-ranked prep lefty on our list headed into the spring. Yet somehow, the LSU recruit surpassed them as Saguaro’s two-way star, eventually earning the Prep Baseball Arizona Player of the Year award at the end of the spring as well. The two-way traits are what ultimately helped him claim his state’s POTY, considering he hit nearly .500 with a .679 OBP with 28 RBIs and 12 extra-base hits, but obviously his pitching statistics are what tell the majority of the story here. Caminiti allowed just 10 hits in 52.2 innings this spring, struck out 119 batters, walked only 14, and finished the spring with a 0.93 ERA. |
Kash Mayfield LHP / OF / Elk City, OK / 2024
OKLAHOMA STATE COMMIT Like Lewis, among the infielders, Mayfield skyrocketed up draft boards following his ‘pen at the 2024 Super 60 and he only continued to reiterate how that performance was no fluke. Mayfield’s effortless velocity from the left side, and the control he showed in that showcase setting, translated seamlessly onto the live mound in Oklahoma for Elk City. He carved up opponents in 2024, striking out 115 batters in 44 innings and he allowed just four hits and eight walks all spring long, resulting in a 0.32 ERA. Mayfield also clobbered opposing pitching in the meantime, he hit .493 with 25 extra-base hits and 31 RBIs. |
Dax Whitney RHP / Blackfoot, ID / 2024
OREGON STATE COMMIT Idaho’s hardly a prep power on the national landscape, but Whitney made sure his home state drew some pro scouts his way this spring – and he simply dominated his peers en route to his spot on this list. Over 52.2 innings, the pop-up prospect allowed just 10 hits, 11 walks, and he punched out 130 batters total, good for an opponents’ average of .058 and a 0.27 ERA by the season’s end. As you might expect, he also did the heavy lifting offensively for Blackfoot, hitting .438 with 16 extra-base hits and 43 RBIs. |
Ethan Schiefelbein LHP / Corona, CA / 2024
UCLA COMMIT Very much unlike Whitney, Schiefelbein was one of the more famous prep pitchers in the nation, given that he served as one of the best arms on the best high school team in the country this season, Corona. Corona is a SoCal squad that played what was arguably the toughest schedule in the nation this year, and yet they came away as NHSI champs and they also won the CIF Southern Section Division 1 title, maybe the most difficult “state” tournament of all. Schiefelbein was Corona’s rudder at the top of the rotation, where he went 8-0 for the Panthers finishing the spring with a 0.27 ERA over 52 innings, totaling 83 Ks and allowing two earned runs all spring. He authored the complete-game shutout versus Bryce Rainer’s Harvard-Westlake in the CIF-SS title game on May 19 to finish a stellar prep career. |
Ryan Sloan RHP / York, IL / 2024
WAKE FOREST COMMIT Sloan is one of the top-ranked prep righties on our Draft HQ Top-150, slotted at No. 14 overall, and he made efficient use of his spring, punching out nearly two batters per inning – 90 Ks in 46 frames. Sloan allowed just 19 hits in that span, five walks, and his K rate allowed him to stifle the threats that were few and far between, finishing the spring with a 0.30 ERA. The dominance from the mound earned him the Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Year award, as well as a spot here, and he appears likely to hear his name called in Sunday’s first round. |
UTILITY / TWO-WAY
Johnny King LHP / OF / Naples, FL / 2024
MIAMI COMMIT Generally, the utility section of our All-Prep Baseball Team roster is made up of the gaudiest season stats in the country, and King certainly put up one of them at Naples this spring. Predominantly known for his prowess on the mound, King K’d 110 batters in 47.2 innings, with a 0.73 ERA and a .089 OBA. He was also one of the state’s most potent hitters, as he hit .500 even with 23 RBIs as well as 18 extra-base hits. |
Seth Hernandez RHP / OF / Corona , CA / 2025
VANDERBILT COMMIT As stated in Schiefelbein’s section, Corona played an arduous schedule against the country’s best competition and came out on top on the biggest stages – and Hernandez was maybe the biggest factor, even as a junior in 2024. Hernandez, who his head coach called one of the best players he’s ever been around, is one of the best two-way players in the country’s 2025 class. When the Panthers needed him, he came to the rescue. While he’s more of a next-level prospect on the mound, Hernandez clutched up offensively at some season-defining moments of the season, which is what helped earn him a spot on this roster. He’ll have some competition surely, but Hernandez feels like a favorite to earn the 2025 Prep Baseball Player of the Year, if he’s somehow able to top himself next spring. |
Kruz Schoolcraft LHP / 1B / Sunset, OR / 2025
UNCOMMITTED The Prep Baseball Oregon Player of the Year, Schoolcraft, just concluded what was one of the most memorable single-season performances in recent history, and that’s saying a lot given what Noble Meyer did in 2022 and 2023. Schoolcraft struck out 146 batters in 71.2 innings and finished the spring with a 0.39 ERA. He’s a towering 6-foot-8 left/left prospect who was as imposing from the batter’s box as he was on the mound. Offensively, he launched seven homers and hit .500, driving in 30 runs and scoring another 30 times himself. |
Braden Booth 3B / RHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2024
MISSISSIPPI STATE COMMIT Booth was an enormous reason Bob Jones earned Alabama’s 7A state title, and his individual production captured the Prep Baseball Alabama Player of the Year award in the process. Circling back to the 7A championship series, Booth homered three times in the three-game series and he pitched a complete-game shutout in the first game of the set, which charted the course to the title. In total, Booth K’d 127 batters in 83.1 innings with a 1.51 ERA and he was even more productive offensively, hitting .429 with 28 extra-base hits (10 HR) with 49 RBIs and he added on 14 steals. |
Tomas Valincius LHP / 1B / Baylor, TN / 2024
VIRGINIA COMMIT Valincius finished his senior spring at Baylor with an ERA a tick under 1.00, and he struck out 139 batters in 86.1 innings at the Tennessee powerhouse program. He attended the 2023 Prep Baseball All-American Game as a pitcher and he impressed greatly in Milwaukee, but it was even more impressive to see what Valincius put together offensively over the course of a full spring season. At the plate, he hit .444 with 10 home runs and he drove in 40 runs, making him one of the top two-way threats in the nation, earning a spot on this roster. |
TP Wentworth OF / LHP / Central Catholic, CA / 2024
CLEMSON COMMIT Wentworth is a multi-sport star from California committed to Clemson across the country, and he ended his prep career strong, K’ing 119 batters over 69 innings this spring, with a 0.51 ERA at its end. As dominant as Wentworth was from the mound, his prospect status is even more glowing offensively, where he hit .360 this past spring with seven home runs and he swiped 13 bags, underscoring his all-around athleticism. This do-it-all prospect was one of the top players in NorCal entering this past season, and it showed. |
