2023 Ranking Riser: Callan Scolari
December 30, 2020
The 2023 Class Rankings Update saw a shake up in Nevada's Top 10 with the state's top 5 prospects landing in the National Top 300. With Faith Lutheran/LVR product, Zane Kelly, holding tight onto the #1 spot, followed by two high ceiling right handers in Meadow's LJ Mercurius and Bishop Gorman's Kamdyn Perry who sit in the #2 and #3 spots, respectively. Nevada's 2023 Class has the chance to be the next "BIG" class with the depth of talent present not only in the Top 10, but in the Top 25 and beyond evident by the rising of two new prospects who earned their spot among the best players in the state in the PBR Nevada Top 10. Now, we highlight the 2023 Ranking Risers with a number of prospects trending positively after successful Summer and Fall seasons.
It is nothing new for Bishop Manogue to produce prospects and right hander, Callan Scolari, is another projectable arm in the pipeline. At 6-foot-3, 155 pound, he has the looseness in his arm that excites recruiters paired with a positively trending fastball velocity which hit 77 mph in February at the Northern Nevada Scout Day, ran it up to 83 mph in July at the Northern Nevada Update, ultimately topping out at 85 mph at the Nevada Top Prospect event in August. He compliments his fastball with two secondary pitches, changeup and breaking ball, that are currently in the development phase, but possess projectability as he gains comfort and the ability to repeat his arm action. Scolari is set to have his breakout year in 2021 and is also a player that has the potential to represent Nevada at the 2021 PBR Future Games.
