2023 PBR All-American Game, Spotlight: Mark Brissey
August 26, 2023
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Prep Baseball Report is hosting its inaugural High School All-American Game at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The unique event will feature the nation’s top high school seniors who are set to battle against a roster of the country’s best juniors in Class of 2024 vs. Class of 2025 action, giving pro scouts a unique look at current and future draft classes.
We’ve begun to unveil the event’s participants on our social media channels, and we’ll spotlight those players more closely on our site, too, highlighting past performances and scouting reports from the live looks we’ve gathered on this gifted group throughout the years.
We're highlighting right-hander Mark Brissey, an Arkansas native and the top-ranked arm in the state. The Razorback recruit is a physical 6-foot-3, 215-pounds with a high-spin fastball and a hammer of a breaking ball that he spins at 2,700+ RPMs. Brissey showed well at the East Arkansas Preseason ID back in February, recording the second highest fastball velocity in the nation from our 2023 Preseason ID Tour. He'll bring his power arsenal to Milwaukee next month for the inaugural PBR All-American Game.
PBR's Diego Solares had this to say about Brissey: "Throughout our full state tour on the Preseason ID circuit there were multiple players that caught our attention but none more than physical right handed pitcher Brissey. Brissey threw an impressive bullpen this past Sunday in Jonesboro that saw the fastball tick up to 93 mph with a ton of arm side run. To pair the fastball he used a big 74-76 mph curveball with 2667 spin average and a ton of sweeping action that gets the ball darting a different way than the fastball and then showed some feel for a fading changeup in the 81-84 mph range. At 6-foot-3 and 205-pounds, Brissey has the room and size to add even more strength in his remaining three years of high school before he lands on campus in Fayetteville to play for the Razorbacks. We expect to see even bigger jumps from Brissey and he has the potential to being one of the top power arms in the country for the 2025 class."
