2021 Overall Rankings Risers

Ryan Johnson RHP / 1B / Home School, TX / 2021

Johnson jumps 15 spots in the overall rankings to the No. 13 overall ranked prospect in the 2021 class. Another power armed Dallas Baptist recruit that will be fun to follow come draft time. Johnson makes the jump after a strong showing at this year’s Area Code Games.

“Johnson showed absolute electricity on the bump, pumping strikes with premium stuff. Gets on hitters with his delivery…. and 95. Finishes of guys with late sharp SL 83-86.” – Nathan Rode

Caedmon Parker RHP / SS / The Woodlands Christian, TX / 2021

After the summer TCU recruit Caedmon Parker has had it is no surprise to see his stock rise on the national stage. Checking in at No. 61, Parker makes one of the biggest jumps in the class climbing 218 spots. A player that has it all and that could continue to great strides moving forward.

Ben Bosse RHP / Brenham, TX / 2021

The Auburn recruit makes his way into PBR Top 100 checking in at No. 78. Bosse a player that has continuously impressed our staff throughout the summer.

Cameron Cauley SS / 2B / Barbers Hill, TX / 2021

Coming in at No. 64 is Texas Tech recruit Cameron Cauley. Cauley makes a significant jump after a really strong summer campaign and performance at the Area Code Games.

“Call me a fan of Cameron Cauley. Twitchy athlete. Plus runner. Ability to drive the ball to all fields and utilize his speed.” – Nathan Rode

Mason Marriott RHP / 3B / Tomball, TX / 2021

A Baylor recruit who also finds his way into the PBR Top 100, coming in at No. 86 after a strong showing at the Area Code Games.

“Came out pounding the bottom of the zone at 92-94. Worked  in-out with purpose, effortlessly. Sharp 82-85 slider for strikes. Also flashed 85 CH. Quality mound presence. “ – Shooter Hunt

Tyler Collins OF / SS / McKinney Boyd, TX / 2021

The Oklahoma State recruit makes slight jump up 23 spots to No. 123. Collins easily one of the most athletic players from this Texas 2021 class. Possesses athleticism that translates to all parts of his game. Plenty of quick-twitch ability. Quick hands with feel for hit.

Ty Sexton RHP / Lake Creek, TX / 2021

The recent Texas A&M recruit makes the biggest jump in the class jumping nearly 200 spots to No. 131. Sexton’s rise in the rankings is very much earned putting together one of the more imposing summer performances we’ve seen this summer.

“Tons of quality strikes and when missed it was in a quality location. The fastball up 90.0 mph with an average spin rate of 1927 and a tilt of 12:30. Creates a tough angle on hitters down in the zone and has slight cut to the ball with an average induced vertical break of 17.5 and horizontal break of 4.2 inches. Also showed a curveball that played well of the fastball and was able to get a few uncomfortable swings and takes.” – Phil Haig

"Continued to develop over the summer and would flash up to 93 with tilt and command of the FB. CB is continuing to develop but the ceiling is very high for Sexton"  -  Phil Haig

AJ Smith - Shawver3B / SS / Colleyville Heritage , TX / 2021

Smith- Shawver has a really burst onto the scene this summer quickly establishing himself as one of the top uncommitted arms, if not the top uncommitted arm in this Texas 2021 class. Comes into the ranking at No. 196 A player that possesses obvious natural athleticism and big tools. Possible two-way potential, with ultimately a bright future on the mound.

Creed Willems C / RHP / Aledo, TX / 2021

Willems makes a well deserved jump in the rankings climbing 166 spots to No. 251. The TCU recruit has had an extremely loud summer and has been one of our favorite players to watch over this summer.

“2021 C Creed Willems continues to build his case as everyone’s favorite player. Quick hands and compact strength. Swings and plays with confidence. Big of the TCU recruit.” – Shooter Hunt

“Had one of the breakout summers for players in the state of Texas. Showed his all around ability to impact the game in many ways. His bat obviously stands out with natural, easy power to all fields. Also on the mound could dominate a lineup multiple times with a low 90's FB."  - Phil Haig

Shane Martin 3B / RHP / Grand Oaks, TX / 2021

Martin makes a slight jump in the rankings coming at No. 160. A recent decommit from Wichita State that has continued to establish himself as one of the top bats in this Texas 2021 class. A player to follow closely this fall and into the spring. 

Kevin Bazzell SS / C / Rockwall-Heath , TX / 2021

Another Dallas Baptist recruit that continues to rise in the rankings and establish himself as one of the top catching prospects in the class. Makes another massive jump coming in at No. 254. A high-motor, ultra-competitive player. At the plate has a simple swing with quicks hands that do damage on contact. Behind the dish, has quick footwork & easy exchanges. A Flat ballplayer that will be fun to watch over his career.

Daylan Pena 1B / 3B / Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, TX / 2021

At No. 339 is Texas State recruit Daylen Pena. Peña hails from a very established Veterans Memorial program that has a reputation from producing some of states biggest power bats. Peña makes the jump after a strong summer and a impressive offensive performance at this year’s Area Code Tryouts.

Justin Barry-Smith RHP / The Woodlands, TX / 2021

"In a matter of a year, our PBR staff was able to see the FB velocity make big jumps. Fall of 2019 Barry-Smith was 83-86 with natural cut and great feel for all pitches in the zone, resulting in weak contact. Most recently seen by our staff showing a quick arm up to 93 and still feel for all pitches in the zone resulting in swings and misses" - Phil Haig

William Maynard RHP / SS / Klein Cain, TX / 2021

The recent Texas A&M commit makes his way into the National Rankings checking in at No. 295. 

Maynard continued to develop over the course of the summer and showed improved stuff each time our staff was able to see him. He runs the FB up to 93 and will pair it with a much improved breaking ball that gets swings and misses."  Phil Haig
