2021 Future Games: Day 1 & 2 Standouts

2023 Rhyder Poppell, OF/1B, Florida State University School

5-foot-10, 190 lbs. Poppell is a true switch hitter who can play multiple positions. Strong bodied stocky frame that produced a lot of power from both sides of the plate. In today’s game Poppell turned on two baseballs from each side of the plate picking up RBI doubles on both which helped Team Florida secure the win and also the Player of the Game. 

2023 Dillon Moquin, OF, Stoneman Douglas

6-foot-1 185 lbs. Moquin flashed some electric bat speed during his two rounds of batting practice on Day 1. Registered a 99 mph exit velocity and showed the ability to turn the barrel over quickly with present power to the pull side. 

2023 Jack Mackinnon, OF/LHP, Cardinal Mooney

6-foot-4, 200 lbs. The left-handed hitting outfielder showed well in batting practice launching baseballs to the pull side at 97 mph exit velocity. At the plate, Mackinnon has above average bat speed with a level to uphill bat path that was fluid and repeatable. Mackinnon continued in game with a single that came off the bat at 98 mph.

2024 Devin Fitz-Gerald, SS/2B, Stoneman Douglas

5-foot-9, 160 lbs. The switch hitting 2024 was impressive during BP showcasing the ability to repeat swing with a confident approach at the plate. Fitz-Gerald’s exit velocity was 92 mph. As a left handed hitter the shortstop showed well and has some projectable power to the pull side. Hands and lower half work together generating consistent barrels. 

2023 Darnell W. Parker Jr., SS/2B, IMG Academy

6-foot, 170 lbs. The athletic shortstop showed quick work of the hands with some twitch before contact and ability to stay inside the baseball working all parts of the field at 93 mph exit velocity. Defensively, has the making  of a plus defender at short. Shows a quick first step, stays in rhythm with soft hands.

2023 JD Hay, SS/RHP, Bolles

6-foot-1, 180 lbs. Hay is a two-way player from North Florida and has a high waisted frame that is starting to add strength. An upper 80’s arm on the mound, Hay showed well at the plate too in today’s game going 2-2 with 2 RBI’s and a double. Hay gets the barrel head out front with quick hands. 

2023 Collin Priest, 1B, Mount Dora Christian Academy

6-foot-3, 215 lbs. Priest made some loud contact in batting practice, showing present power to the pull side gap at 102 mph exit velo. Batted .378 with 9 HR’s this past spring. The 6-foot-3 first baseman just missed a homerun this morning on a deep big league fly ball to right field. 

2023 Robert Demetree, SS/3B, TNXL Academy

6-foot, 185 pound athletic frame. Continues to add physicality as he carries a strong lower half. Impressed defensively with smooth actions and soft hands. Showcased a plus arm up to 94 mph across the infield. Shows a fluid, level path offensively working the middle of the field. Translated to the game as he singled early on.

2023 Jacob McKenzie, C, Winter Springs

Strong 5-foot-10, 180 pound catcher. Uses his lower half well to drive the ball to the pull side. In game, reached base twice with 2 singles and 2 RBI. Quick out the crouch behind the plate showcasing a strong arm. 1.94-2.12 pop times that translated to a caught stealing in game.

2023 Drew Reaves, SS/3B, JM Tate

Athletic 6-foot-2, 190 pound frame. Reaves had a strong game offensively against Carolina. 2-2 with a double and a single. Was on time and found multiple barrels as he was able to drive the ball with intent.

2023 Andrew Williamson, OF, Northside Christian

Athletic 6-foot, 180 pound frame. Showed ability to create leverage with his hands and launch to the pull side gap. Ball jumps off the bat with a fluid bat path. Defensively, shows a quick first step and the ability to cover both gaps from center field. Above average arm up to 89 mph.
