OUTLOOK: 
With a fresh look and added talent for the PCAL-Gabilan Division, Monterey heads into 2020 expecting to defend their Title as they return a core group of players while mixing in fresh faces. The Dores are regularly focused on their defense with depth in their pitching staff having few starting spots to fill. Key seniors will carry the offense and with their athleticism, should be able to keep games tight. Coach Groves has been at the helm for four decades now and knows how to get the most out of his roster year in and year out. Facing stiff competition, the Toreadores will need their offense to be consistent. If they can find that consistency, a deep playoff run in the Central Coast Section isn’t out of the question.  

TOP RETURNING PLAYERS:
‘20 OF/INF/RHP Micheal Mugan, 6-0, 175, R/R. Santa Clara Commit.
3-year Varsity starter shows ability to play anywhere on the field and will hit in the middle of the lineup. Flashes 5-tool capabilities. 

‘20 INF/RHP Justin Deal, 5-10, 160, R/R
3-year Varsity starter showing slick defensive tools in the middle of the diamond. Hit .400 last season. FB/SLD combo on the hill showing ability to close games. 

‘20 LHP/OF Stevie Bull, 5-8, 165, L/L
2-year Varsity starter battling to be one of the Starters on the hill in 2020. 

‘20 C/INF/P Joe Grammatico, 5-8, 185, R/R
1-year Varsity starter. Saw decent time behind the plate in 2019, will compete for the starting job in 2020.  Grinder at the plate, 10bb/7hbp, clutch RBI’s in big games.

‘20 3B/1B Isaac Velasquez, 5-10, 175, R/R
2-year Varsity Player. Impressive measurables and huge potential have shown spurts of bright spots, looking to put it all together consistently in 2020.

‘21 LHP/1B Tyler Seal, 6-0, 165, L/L
2-year Varsity Player. Used as a LH specialist as a Frosh(13ip), then as a Set Up Man as a Soph (28ip), poised to compete for a spot in the starting rotation as a Junior. Breakout Candidate.
