By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director
The 2020 Open showcase was hosted today at Balls-N-Strikes in Sherwood, AR. There was a solid contingent of the 2020 class represented. This class has been regarded as one of the most exciting young groups to come through the state in some time, I was thoroughly impressed that this group lived up to the hype. We will provide analysis over this event over the next few weeks, as well as impact the 2020 rankings.

Outside the Numbers
INF Marcus Brown impressed consistently with advanced actions both defensively during position work. He threw the baseball accurately 80 mph with a quick exchange and clean arm action. He put together an impressive round of batting practice with a compact line drive swing maintaining balance through extension.
INF Colten Sagely has a physical build with an athletic frame. Defensively he played through the baseball with some stiffness, a smooth exchange throwing the ball 77 mph. He also ran a 7.09 in the 60. Offensively he is physically strong with fast bat speed, and a feel for the barrel.
RHP Will Gross showed an advance feel to pitch locating three pitches for a strike, including his fastball which worked 80-82 mph. He located his curveball 68-70 mph and change up 69-71 mph. Gross is a physical player with a quick arm and a clean arm action.
2021’s
Keagan and Payton Allen impressed during the work out as 2021 graduates, showing advanced tools, athletically and with advanced arm strength. Two players to watch as they continue to mature and move forward in baseball.
