Another PBR Minnesota Preseason All-State event is in the books, and it was another outstanding showing from the talented prospects of the north. The top prospects from 2017’s event went on to become some of the top talked about recruits on the national level throughout the summer, and this year’s event may end up doing the same. In this edition of, On the Hunt, a quick look at five standouts in the 2019 class who may end up giving some school’s recruiting class a boost:

William Anderson LHP / 1B / St. Michael-Albertville, MN / 2019

Anderson was one of the biggest standouts and surprises of the event as he showed off significant jump in velocity from last year’s event. Touching 88 mph, he sat mostly 85-86 with a quick arm. The ball jumped through the zone with some late life, and he showed control of three pitches for strikes. Along with the fastball, Anderson threw a sharp slider with shorter break at 74-76. The pitch showed the makings of a swing and miss offering, and he appeared to have confidence in the pitch throwing it for strikes in an early season bullpen. Though he slowed his arm down a touch when throwing the changeup (77-79), he showed feel for the pitch, and it featured similar late life as his fastball. Overall, Anderson looks like he is trending upward, and given the scarcity of uncommitted left-handers left in the class, I would expect schools to make their way out to see him this spring.
