2019 Future Game Trials - Road To Atlanta - The Friele 5
April 12, 2019
We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Ontario's 2019 Future Game Trials - Road To Atlanta. This was a great opportunity for 2021-2022 prospects to be identified before season, create and update their profiles, as well see where they stack up with their peers. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase.
In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

2019 Future Game Trials - Road To Atlanta - The Friele 5
William Watson RHP / 3B / David Suzuki, ON / 2021Report: Watson is an imposing figure on the mound, standing 6-foot-5, 195-pounds with strength throughout the frame, still room to mature physically, especially in the lower half. It’s a compact, athletic delivery from a high ¾ slot, says on-line with a longer arm action that works. At times he loses his release point but he has the ability to self-correct. Fastball sat 85-87 with arm side run, command was a little spotty but control was evident. More velocity should come with a more consistent motion as the athleticism and strength are there. Flashed a harder curveball that sat at 75-76 mph with some downward action. He snapped off a few good ones but came around most of them. The spin is evident and it has the potential to become a true strikeout pitch. Also threw a splitter that was 72-75 mph with some downward action but the pitches lacked finish. Watson is progressing very nicely and is quickly becoming one of the best uncommitted pitching prospects in the province. He his primed to take another step this year and will be one to watch as we head outside for the 2019 season.
