2018 RHP/3B Zachary Malek (Schenectady HS)
The 6-foot-0, 175 pound RHP held the Plainsmen in check for 7 innings in a complete game loss. Fastball sat between 77-80 MPH and mixed an effective offspeed curveball at 67-68 MPH while striking out 5 batters. Also helped himself at the plate with an RBI single.
2020 3B Tyler Patillo (Schenectady HS)
Underclass 3B, bats fourth in the Patriots line-up. Had two hard hit singles and an RBI; on base in all three at bats. A player to continue to follow into the summer.
2020 DH/3B Jake Reinisch (Shenendehowa)
Moved up from the JV after 9 hits in 13 at bats. Off to a slow start in three games but recorded his first Varsity hit on a hard ground ball against Schenectady. The 6-foot-2, left handed hitter has a smooth swing and shows athleticism to play the hot corner. Another strong player to watch throughout the spring and summer development.
2019 RHP Isaac Brown (Troy HS/Marist College Commit)
The 6-foot-2, RHP threw 7 innings in a no decision versus Shenendehowa. Effectively mixed a FB that sat 84-86 MPH and a CB and CH that kept the batters off balance recording 9 K’s. Only gave up 4 hits but surrendered 5 BB. A fun player to continue to watch develop as his frame suggests that there is more in the tank.
2019 SS Fritz Genther (Kingston HS/Virginia Tech Commit)
The 5-foot-9, SS demonstrated his next level skills making two nice plays and going 3 for 3 with a double, HR and an RBI. Demonstrated a strong arm in the field and lateral quickness getting to several balls. High end player committed to Virginia Tech. Ranked #9 in NYS for 2019.
2018 2B Matthew Carr (Vestal)
The 5-foot-10 165 pound second baseman had a top shelf week for Vestal. Over 4 games he was 8 for 14 with 4 2B, 2 BB, 6 R, 3 RBI. At 2B, Carr (R/R) has seen a lot of action with some hard throwing pitchers on the staff inducing hits to the right side of the infield and is 21 for 22 on fielding chances. He is off to a great start for Vestal.
2018 SS Owen Dando (Vestal)
After suffering an injuring against Johnson City on 4/23, the 5-foot-11 160 pound shortstop returned to the lineup against Owego on 4/26 resuming where he left off. In the short week of work, Dando was 4 for 7. At SS, Dando (R/R) maintains a perfect 1.000 FPCT in 17 chances for the season.
2019 CF/RHP Shawn Chermak (Vestal)
Chermak (R/R) performed well at the plate for Vestal, going 6 for 13 with 1 2B, 1 BB, 4 R, and 3 RBI. The 6 foot 150 pound CF covers ground well and anchors the Vestal outfield. On the mound, he uses a fastball that ran 79-81 MPH and a curveball that was consistently 66-67. He threw 4 innings giving up 3 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 K, and 2 BB to get the win against Binghamton.
2019 C/OF Adam Mieczkowski (Vestal)
The 6-foot 170 pound Mieczkowski (R/R) has been splitting time this season between DH and left field. Primarily a catcher, Mieczkowski has been filling other roles behind a senior catcher. Over 4 games this week he was 5 for 14 with 3 BB, 5 R, 6 RBI, 3 K hitting from the 5th and 4th spot in the lineup.
2019 RHP Josh Harrison (Vestal)
The 5-foot-11 170 pound Harrison (R/R) made 3 appearances in relief this week and did not disappoint. He threw 6 ⅓ innings and faced 26 batters, yielding 2 hits, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 K, and 5 BB. Harrison pitched from the stretch. His fastball was 84-85 and topped out at 86 MPH. His curve was at 66/67.
2018 RHP/INF Dylan Richards (Johnson City / Keuka College Commit)
The 6-foot 190 pound senior (R/R) pitched and played second base. Richards has reinvented himself physically over the winter losing a lot mass and replacing it with lean muscle. In the past year and ½ he has taken almost a second off of his 60 time. He threw 3 innings and faced 21 batters, yielding 8 hits, 8 R, 8 ER, 7 Ks, and 4 BB. His fastball was 79-82 MPH. His curve was at 68-70.
2018 RHP/1B Kenneth Westbrook (Binghamton)
Westbrook (R/R) played 1B the night we saw him. He was 2 for 3 with 2 2B, 1 BB, 1 R, 2 RBI. He hit with power to both gaps putting the ball over the heads of the outfielders on both occasions.
SS/RHP Nick Delenoy (Binghamton)
Delenoy (R/R) played SS and pitched in relief. He was 2 for 4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K. He hit a couple of line drives over the infield to left field and left center. On the mound, Delenoy relied primarily on his fastball, He threw 1 2/3 innings and faced 10 batters, yielding 4 hits, 3 R, 3 ER.
SS/RHP Nolan Tofte (Owego)
Tofte (R/R) was the starting pitcher and batted 2nd, moving to shortstop later in the game. He was 3 for 4, 1 R. He hit 3 line drive singles; covers the plate well, taking two to the opposite field.
2018 SS/OF Dylan Simpson (Owego)
Simpson (R/R) played SS and CF. He was 2 for 3, 1 BB, 2 R. He hit 2 line drive singles, one to each side of the field, and a sharp grounder to third and accounted for 2 of Owego’s 3 runs. Good speed on the base paths and covers ground in the outfield.
2018 RHP Anthony Van Fossen (Union Endicott / Oswego St. Commit)
The 6-foot-2 175 pound senior (R/R) was the starting pitcher and played 1B in the 7th inning. He threw 6 innings and faced 28 batters, yielding 8 hits, 3 R, 2 ER, Ks, and 0 BB. His fastball was 82-83. His curve was at 66-67. After yielding 3 doubles and 2 runs in the first inning, Van Fossen settled in and was able to mix his pitches well and scatter 5 more hits across 5 innings. He threw 91 pitches, 66 for strikes. At the plate, Van Fossen was 1 for 5.
2018 RHP Shane Hammond (Union Endicott)
The senior (R/R) came on in relief in the 7th and faced the minimum 3 batters, giving up one single and inducing a double play grounder to 2B. Hammond’s fastball was 80-84 MPH and curve was at 70-72. A strong close for Hammond. At the plate, Hammond was 1 for 3, 1 BB, 1 R.
OF Marcus Bauzo (Union Endicott)
Bauzo played right field and at the plate was 2 for 4, 1 2B, 2 R, and 2 RBI hitting from the 8th spot in the lineup. His double was hit with power to the left center gap. In right field, Bauzo tracked a deep fly ball to the warning track where he made the catch with his back against the fence.
2018 RHP George Gines (Pittsford-Mendon)
6-foot, 180-pound right-hander is consistently down in the zone with two-seam that shows late action, induces weak contact, effectively changes eye level of hitters, can work both sides of plate, shows confidence to use breaking ball in fastball counts; At the plate displays excellent coverage, uses all fields with power, short to the ball with level bat plane through the strike zone, power that has to be respected; strong instincts on the base paths where he shows high game IQ.
2018 INF Billy Dalton (Pittsford-Mendon)
5-foot-8 shortstop possesses smooth footwork, rarely looks out of his comfort zone, displays advanced coverage, able to take balls deep in the hole between shortstop and third and make plays while still being able to take away hits up the middle, smooth transfer from glove to throwing hand with a satisfactory arm across the diamond, soft hands. At the plate strong contact hitter with gap power, quick to the ball, keeps level plane through the strike zone, gets on top of the ball with strong hands; impressive instincts on the base paths, gets good explosion out of the box.
2018 OF Jared Petrichick (Pittsford-Mendon)
6-foot-2 outfielder is a Colgate University commit where he will play football; at the plate he shows strong, quick hands, keeps bat plane level through the zone, uses all fields, gap power that has to be respected, impressive plate coverage, uses counter rotation between upper body and lower torso to generate power. Tracks the ball well in the outfield; above average arm. On the mound he uses height to get downward plane on fastball with late movement, consistently induces weak contact.
2019 LHP Hudson Bockmier (Pittsford-Mendon)
6-foot-1 LHP gets downward plane out of ¾ slot, fastball shows late movement, effectively changes speeds to keep hitters off balance, works both sides of the plate well. Patient approach at the plate, short to the ball, makes consistent barrel contact, uses all fields with gap power, makes effective adjustments within an at-bat, above average plate coverage.
2018 OF Jake Ring (Pittsford-Mendon)
5-foot-10 outfielder shows a disciplined approach at the plate, effectively drives the ball opposite, uses counter rotation between upper and lower body to generate power, makes consistent barrel contact, uses keen instincts to run the base paths with a high game IQ. Takes economic lines to the ball in the outfield, sure glove, effective, comfortable and relaxed demeanor on defense.
2019 INF/RHP Ethan Putney (Churchville-Chili)
5-foot-10 infielder/RHP - At the plate displays impressive plate coverage, hits to all fields, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone, short to the ball with strong hands out of a balanced stance, compact swing, makes consistent barrel contact.
2018 OF Mike Mule (Churchville-Chili)
6-foot outfielder who shows power at the plate, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone, makes consistent barrel contact, quick to the ball with strong hands, power to all fields, uses counter rotation between upper and lower body to generate power, impressive plate coverage. Aggressive outfielder, who takes direct routes to the ball, gets a good read off the bat, sure glove, strong and accurate arm.
2019 C Amaury Samalot (Churchville-Chili)
5-foot-10 catcher with a sturdy build. Short to the ball with a compact swing, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone, repeatable motion, uses all fields, makes consistent barrel contact, strong hands. Above average receiver with advanced blocking skills, fearless behind the plate, smooth transition from glove to throwing hand, strong accurate arm to second.
2020 Joey Puglia (Churchville-Chili)
Rugged 6-foot frame; Plenty of torque; generates power, strong hands, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone with slight upper cut after contact, makes consistent barrel contact, power to all fields.
2018 RHP Trey Sgroi (Bethlehem)
Physical 6-foot-3 210 pound RHP. FB sat 80-83 MPH; slider was 77-78 with plus life. Pitched a CG. Also had two hits at the plate.
2018 INF David Montalvo (Bethlehem)
Athletic build in the 5-foot-10 195 pound range. Showed plus arm strength at SS; bat has life; 2 hits.
High end athlete at 6-foot-1 205 pounds. 2 hits; double. Athletic and smooth actions in the field; strong arm with carry.
