2018 Spring Scout Blog (Week 3)
April 25, 2018
APRIL 16 - APRIL 22, 2018
2019 1B/C, Ben Lavery (Shenendehowa HS)
6-foot-4, 210 pound 1B/C, Lavery showed quick hands and a powerful bat in the game versus defending Section 2 Champ Niskayuna. He lined two doubles in the left and right center gaps. Transitioning to 1B for Shen, but he is a very capable catcher and projects as an offensive catcher at the next level.
2018 OF/3B, Andrew Perry (Shenendehowa HS/SUNY Cortland Commit)
6-foot-1, 185 pound OF/3B, Perry showed the versatility to play corner infield and outfield. Against Niskayuna, made two nice catches in the outfield showing range to both the foul line and the gap with a strong arm. At the plate, not seeing many pitches to hit as he has walked in 4 of 5 plate appearances when seen live in several games.
2019 LHP/OF, Tim Schaffer (Niskayuna HS)
5-foot-11, 160 pound LHP/OF, Schaffer demonstrated a smooth delivery and a solid composure on the mound. Used both his fastball and slider regularly, with the slider being inconsistent. Showed the ability to move the ball around the zone and keep hitters off balance. Scattered 4 hits in 4+innings of early season work with 4 Ks and 1 BB. Solid LHP who will get better as the season progresses.
2018 RHP/1B, Danny Watson (Columbia HS/VCU Commit)
6-foot-6, 190 pound 1B/RHP, Long frame with an athletic make-up. Watson is off to a fast start in seven games, he has hit 4 HR’s with 11 RBI. He was held in check against Mamaroneck. On the hill, he is currently 1-1 after pitching 5 strong innings with 7 K’s vs. Ballston Spa. Inconsistent in his second outing versus a strong Saratoga team, lasting only 3 innings and walking three and hitting two batters. Worked in the 84-86 MPH range from a standard ¾ arm slot on a cool/blustery day versus Saratoga. Plenty of upside present and his fastball will heat up along with the weather.
2020 3B/RHP, Carmen Erno (Columbia HS)
Small framed athlete, hit from the right hand side with feet shoulder width apart and hands at the shoulder. Managed two singles and a walk versus Mamaroneck. Tough batter in the middle of the Columbia order who gets on base and has scored 11 runs in seven games.
2018 OF/RHP, Bobby Cox (Mamaroneck HS)
Physical 6-foot-11, 190 pound RHH outfielder displayed a controlled balanced approach with impressive bat speed and power going 1-2 with a HR. Slightly wide stance with solid hip rotation, quick hands and an upward barrel action.
2020 C Kevin Marte (Middletown)
Compact R/R backstop; even setup at the plate with quiet timing. Cross cuts the zone with his swing but repeats a balanced approach. Tremendous defender in the dirt; soft receiver with an accurate arm.
2020 LHP Kelvin Marte (Middletown)
Bats and throws from the left side. Impressive performance vs. Monroe-Woodbury throwing a CG one-hitter, allowing 1 run while striking out 10 and walking two. Sat 82-84 through the first four innings, showing a same plane change at 75-76 and 2-to-8 sweeping CB at 68-69 MPH. At the plate he doubled to right center; even setup with easy effort stroke.
2020 LHP Kelvin Marte (Middletown) sitting 82-84 MPH works an arm side change followed by FB. 3-pitch command on a 40 deg afternoon.

2018 1B Howard Sewell (Middletown / Manhattan Commit)
Long and lean 1B with an athletic frame. High end defender; smooth actions around the bag, soft on the shorthops. Open stance, flat bat during setup. Had a hard hit single to RF in cold conditions.
2019 RHP Steven Campione (Monroe-Woodbury)
Lean, athletic Strike thrower who works both sides of the plate; sat 81-83 MPH, touching a couple of 84 MPH FB in sub 40 degree weather. High ¾ arm slot with easy, repeatable delivery. CB featured 12-to-6 action at 66-68 MPH; can throw for strikes. Showed a couple changes at 71-72 MPH. Sustained velocity into the 7th inning.

2018 SS Tyler Guadagno (Monroe - Woodbury)
Athletic R/R middle infielder with a deep, spread stance; low hand position. Explosive, short swing path into the zone with extension out in front. Only player that had consistent at-bats vs. Kelvin Marte; had a well stuck RBI double to deep right-center along with some deep flyouts. Above average defender; soft hands that play through the ball out in front; accurate arm with clean release. Uncommitted player that will play right away at the right program.
2020 RHP Lucas Prokosch (Newburgh Free Academy)
Physical, athletic RHP who works from a high ¾ slot. Sat 83-84 and popped an 85 and 86 MPH FB. Command waivered, missing up in the zone. When ahead in the count he flashed a sharp 11-to-5 CB at 75 MPH; featured late action/depth. Improved arm extension and being able to repeat will help him reach his high ceiling.
2020 RHP Lucas Prokosch (@BaseballNFA ) gets 3 punch outs in the 1st. Physical/athletic frame from a high 3/4 slot. Sat 83-85 MPH and showed a breaker with late action.

2021 OF Jaden DeLawder (FDR)
Average build; left-handed hitting OF. Open stance with a high hand position. Some inside-out approach to his swing but looks the part of a younger player who is going to develop and be a long term threat for FDR.
2019 LHP Owen Pacchiana (FDR)Long and lean LHP with room for physical gains. Short arms the ball a bit; low ¾ arm slot; hides the ball well. Repeats efforts with limited lower half usage. Sat 75-77 MPH, threw strikes and uses a sweeping breaking ball in the mid 60’s. Was able to spot and expand with breaking ball; pitchability is there and a frame that can easily handle additional velocity.
