For the beginning of the year, we are doing an update to the Virginia 2018 and 2019 rankings. With both classes we have updated the rankings to coincide with the new updated overall rankings with new inclusions as well. In March there will be a complete update to the Virginia rankings for these classes as well as an update to the 2017 class and our initial 2020 Virginia rankings release.

The 2020 class will be one to keep an eye on, especially after the Freshmen Free Showcase coming up on January 29 at the Virginia Sports Complex. Spots are still available (CLICK HERE for more info).

Today we are going to take a look at some of the movers in the class of 2018. Soon we will look into the 2019 rankings, and next week look at some of the players that will see themselves in the 2020 rankings.

There has been plenty of movement in the 2018 Virginia Rankings and the start is at the top spot with C Adam Hackenberg of Miller School taking over that role. Hackenberg has a solid build that makes loud contact at the plate, which brings plenty of intrigue as a catching prospect. Hackenberg transferred to Miller for this 2017 season, and looks to play a big role as Miller School aims for a VISAA Division 2 title.

Moving up one spot is Jack Dragum of Hanover HS (Virginia). The strong armed-middle infielder also will be a key player as Hanover hopes to repeat as 4A Champions in the VHSL.

Alabama commit Cristian Sanchez sees himself move up in the rankings from the No. 8 to No. 3 spot. The long and lanky right-handed pitcher has plenty more in the tank and as he continues to develop on the mound makes for a very interesting prospect.

Others movers in the rankings include Will Schroeder of Loudon County HS, Gregory Ryan of Benedictine, Tyler Casagrande of Paul VI, and Jacob Steinberg of St. John’s

Top Newcomers to the rankings is RHP Graham Firoved of First Colonial HS followed by RHP Daniel Ouderkirk of Spotswood HS, and Ty Hanchey of Granby HS.
