2018 Niagara Open ID - Quick Hits

Chris Kemlo
PBR Ontario Director of Scouting

We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Ontario's 2018 Niagara Open ID this past week. This was a great opportunity for 2017-2022 prospects to be put on college radars. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase. Below we take a look at a few players from 2018 - 2021 classes that were in attendance here in quick hits as there were big gains made by some players with a look at a few fresh faces as well.

In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

Ontario Insider: 2018 Niagara Open ID - Quick Hits

The Arms

The first arm of the day set the bar with 2019 right-hander Matthew Panzica (Team Ontario) came out and sat 84-85 consistently while mixing in his secondary stuff that complimented his heater. It’s a long and lean frame that will add more strength, and Panzica sat around the zone and down all day throughout this pen. Another 2019 right-hander that came out firing strikes with his fastball was 6-foot-3 right-hander Andrew Haynes (Muskoka Hornets). Haynes was a breakout arm last year with an overhand curveball that showed spin and depth.
