Outlook
2017 was a rebuild year of sorts for Leonardtown after their state playoff run in 2016. Plenty of new faces filled the lineup. Leonardtown played above .500 for the season until dropping their final four games of the season to finish 9-12. A competitive team returns a majority of the roster and with a year under their belt, the Raiders could be a surprise team in a tough SMAC conference this 2018. Offensively they will be paced by a group that had impressive seasons and looking to build off of. Leading that is SS Matt Bobrowski, coming off a freshman season for the ages, putting up some gaudy numbers for a freshmen (see above for stats). Bobrowski, John Deems and Nick Burch formed a tough lineup with all players hitting over .400 on the season and accounting for close to 60 of the teams runs scored on the year. C Tyler Taitano should have another solid season for the Raiders and handle the pitching staff. Senior 1B Nolan Wood looks to see an increased role this season. On the mound the Raiders will have to find a replacement for Kenny Rickett. Look for Ethan Ledig and Stuart Plagge to see their roles increased this season on the mound for the Raiders. Keep an eye on youngsters Eric Long, Cole Tarleton and Dylan Henderson this season for Leonardtown.
