2017 Underclass Games Make-Up Breakdown

McGwire Holbrook C / RHP / Bishop Moore, FL / 2020

Currently ranked No. 32 in the Florida 2020 Class. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds the right handed hitting catcher appears to have leaned out and continued to improve the swing. He has cut down some of the length and the gap-to-gap power has continued to improve. Swing translates to the game where he has a balanced lower half and a feel for the barrel.  Defensively,  he is becoming more flexible and stays in better positions with soft hands and strong wrists. Projects as an above average defensive catcher. On the mound, he has a short arm action and pounds the zone at 80-82. High two-way follow.

Zac Veen SS / 2B / Spruce Creek, FL / 2020

Currently stands at 6-foot, 160 pounds the young wiry left handed hitting infielder showcased a pure left handed swing with gap to gap power. He has a highly projectable body with strong quick compact swing. Veen also is a plus runner great feel for the game. Defensively, he showed plus range with quick controlled feet and body movements. Could see him move to third base in the future as he continues to grow and become stronger. High follow/draft guy potential.

Tucker Fine 2B / SS / Berkeley Prep, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds and shows a lot of functional athleticism. He may not have one plus tool, but his defense and bat to ball skill are above average. Defensively he projects to be an above average to plus defensive second baseman with rangy action and an above average glove. Offensively, he has good rhythm and timing. He will mix a medium leg kick and toe-tap load. He has a feel for the barrel and an advanced approach. He is strong pound for pound and when he works in the leg kick consistently will develop pull side power. Has tools and they work in the game while also room to project.ysis Here

Sal Grinstead 2B / 3B / Spruce Creek, FL / 2020

Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds the left handed hitting infielder showed great athleticism in the field and at the plate. Hands worked very well in his swing and stayed on plane throughout. Would occasionally collapse on his back side but for the most part, showed consistent strong solid contact with an controlled aggressive swing, staying strong in his legs. Defensively, the actions really work at short. He has a quick first step with rangy actions. The hands work well out in front of his body and he showed a feel for the position during the game. Projects to be an above average defender with above average bat to ball skills and gap-to-gap power.

Harrison Povey OF / RHP / Largo, FL / 2021

Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 140 pounds has a long, lanky frame. Topped at 71 mph from the outfield, with accurate throws that resulted in an outfield assist in the game. Actions work in the infield and will be solid as he continues to grow and become stronger. The left handed hitter has a simple setup and the path works. Could get better use from the lower half, but the swing should continue to improve as he becomes stronger.

Tyler Dowdy 1B / RHP / Plant City, FL / 2020

Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 240 pounds the big first baseman showed flashes of pull side power. Hands worked well in the zone while being on plane throughout his swing. Could see more improvement with a more balanced lower half and body control. Defensively, showed good hands with a strong arm and some feel around the bag. Improved footwork on ground balls and around the bag also could help with balance at the plate. On the mound, he sat 77-79 with a short, quick arm action. Also showcased a lower ¾ arm slot with arm side run. Could be a good two way follow as he grows.

Eli Alderson RHP / OF / Alonso, FL / 2020

Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 140 pounds  hits from the right side and has a simple load and setup. The path is level through the zone, with a line drive approach and feel for the barrell. He could benefit from added rhythm in his setup and better use from the lower half. Created an exit velocity of 76.4 and will improve as he gets stronger. He also pitched, working 65-67 mph with the fastball. From the outfield, he topped out at 71 mph.

Kolsen Powers C / 1B / IMG Academy, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds has a strong bodied frame. The right-handed hitter hits from a strong wide base. He drops his hands in the load, which creates some length in the swing at times. He has some bat speed and strength, showed pull side power potential. The swing translated to the game with a few hard hit balls. Created an exit velocity of 87.7 mph. Behind the plate, he has a prototypical catchers frame. He has strong forearms and his hands worked well. He will need to improve the footwork and flexibility, but still had pop times ranging from 2.15-2.2. The frame projects and the bat should continue to improve as he becomes consistently short to the ball.

Pierce Chambers C / 3B / Northside Christian, FL / 2020

Currently ranked No. 49 in the Florida 2020 Class. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds  has a lot of upside with athleticism and  projectable frame. Behind the plate, the hands work receive. He shows a quick transfer, could improve the footwork and arm strength, currently has pop times ranging from 2.2-2.25. Offensively, the right handed hitter has a feel for hitting. From a wide base, he has a simple hand load. A level path through the zone, with a feel for the barrel. He tends to be out over his front foot, but the bat projects to have power in the future and the projects to be an above average defensive catcher.  

Noah Hughes 1B / OF / West Orange , FL / 2019

Currently stands at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds the physical first baseman showed strong aggressive swings at the plate that translated into the game. Could see improvement in contact with working on controlled aggression at the plate while quieting down body movements. Defensively, Noah showed good awareness around the bag at first base while showcasing an average to above average arm from the outfield. As he continues to becomes consistently short to the ball he project big power potential.

Christian Boyles 2B / SS / Riverdale, FL / 2020

Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 140 pounds the young middle infielder showed great footwork with good hands and a strong arm. At the plate his hands worked very well with a quick compact swing but would tend to get long and wrap bat on occasion. Showed great body control and balance both defensively and in his swing. The tools project and currently play well, will continue to improve with strength and live at-bats.

Sebastian Figga C / OF / Tampa Catholic, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds has a strong, stocky frame. Defensively, he has a high setup and could improve the transfer, working pop times ranging from 2.2-2.3. Offensively, the right handed hitter hits from an upright setup, with a leg kick trigger. He has some strength that results in gap-to-gap power, but can get rotational. Could benefit from a bit of a longer stride to get better use from his strong lower half.

Freddy Albaladejo RHP / Seminole (Sanford), FL / 2019

Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds the big right hander showed great tempo and poise on the mound with his fastball topping out at 86 while sitting 83-85. He has a very smooth delivery and showed good command of the strike zone. Would see improvement in velocity with a good throwing program combined with weighted ball program for arm speed. Also, development of a secondary pitch would greatly benefit him. High follow.

Zack Bennett RHP / 1B / Spruce Creek, FL / 2020

Blake Bradley RHP / 1B / Lake Wales, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds hits from an upright stance, gets quality separation. Can get rotational at times, and could get better use out of the lower half. Generated an exit velocity of 77.9 mph. On the mound, he threw strikes with a fastball ranging from 75-76 mph. Consistently lands in line and also threw a curveball at 62-64 and a changeup at 64-65 mph. 

Tommy Ricketts 3B / RHP / Lake Wales, FL / 2020

Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds has a strong, broad shouldered frame. Defensively, the footwork could improve but the hands and actions worked at third base. Offensively, he tended to hit off of his front foot, but generated a lot of bat speed in front of the plate which resulted in pull side power. Could see more consistent power with better use of the lower half and would help create a more direct path to the ball. Translated in the game with a double. On the mound, the arm works well. From a 3/4 slot, he featured a fastball that rained from 82-83 mph with some life and should see a jump as he learns to get better extension. Showed the ability to spin a curveball at 70-72 and a changeup at 72 mph.

Zach DeVito SS / 2B / Newsome, FL / 2020

Currently stand at 5-foot-9, 135 pounds and has a high waist and looks prime to for a growth spirt. Defensively, the footwork is solid and there are some twitchy actions. The hands work well as he funnels and transfers well. Offensively, the right-handed hitter is level through the. Has some length, but also has good bat to ball skills. Created an exit velocity of 79.4 mph. Will be an interesting follow as he continues to fill into his body.

Charlie Vari C / 3B / Tampa Prep, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds has a strong-bodied, square shoulder catchers frame. Defensively, he projects to be an above average defensive catcher. Could benefit from added flexibility, but hands work and had pop times in the 2.05-2.15 range. Offensively, he has a lot of strength. Although there is some steepness, he creates above average bat speed with gap-to-gap power. Swing translated to game where he had hard contact and a single. 

Adiel Aguiar SS / C / Windermere Preparatory, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 5-foot-6, 145 pounds has a strong lower half and some quick twitch actions. Showed range in the middle with sound footwork and hands. The switch hitter, from the left side has a somewhat low handset he has a simple load and swing. A slightly uphill path, he has a feel for the barrel and a gap-to-gap approach. From the right side, he is more upright and open. A more level, but rotational path creates some length but still shows a feel for the barrel. Translated to a single in the game.

Dylan Adams RHP / 3B / Windermere Prep, FL / 2019

Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds has a physical frame with room to continue to fill out. Defensively, the hands and feet work and projects to be an above average defensive third baseman. The right-handed hitter has a wide base and uses a leg kick trigger, which he uses to create quality rhythm and stays on time. He is aggressive through the zone and creates above average bat speed for his class with pull-side power potential. There is some unnecessary head movement, but the path and bat speed works and projects along with projectable defensive actions and projectable frame.
