Season Outlook
Valle Catholic will be defending the Class 2 State Championship for the third consecutive year and looking for their fourth straight title. In 2016, the Warriors achieved the 30-win mark for the third straight year finishing 34-2.  In 2017, pitching depth will need to be developed, and several sophomores will be asked to throw big innings, while seniors will be asked to increase their role on the mound as well. Seniors Cole Wood, Tristan Rollhaus, and Kaden Bauman will be asked to throw valuable varsity innings for the first time. Look for junior Christian Loida, an All-State selection as a pitcher from last season, to lead the staff and Wood, an All-State catcher, to add experience to the battery with new pitchers.  The Warriors have lost six players to graduation but will rely on a pair of All-State players and a talented underclass to get them back to the Final Four.  Valle Catholic, 144-19 since 2012, should keep the winning tradition going this spring.
