As  we  prepare  for  the  upcoming  2017  high  school  season,  we  will  be  taking  a 
preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Season Outlook
Pitching and defense will be the keys for a successful 2017 season for the Lafayette Huskers as they look get back to the district championship game.  Chase Edwards had a great sophomore campaign finishing with a 5-3 record on the mound with 3.22 ERA.  He fanned 42 hitters in 37 innings and allowed just 19 walks.  Watch for sophomore 3B Chase Looney to have a breakout year offensively after hitting .405 with 19 RBI and 12 stolen bases a season ago.  Senior INF Clayton Berry will anchor down the infield and add production to the line up, hitting .347 with 17 RBI in 2016.  A pair of all-conference juniors, Kinser Madison and Caleb Russel, will bring experience and plenty of offense to the line up. Also, look for sophomore C Tanner Sears to continue with his strong offensive freshman sesason.  The Huskers have the offense to make some noise this spring as they look to take the next step forward in 2017.
