Season Outlook
The Bluejays graduated all but two starters from last year's team that finished 15-13, and fell to #1 ranked Stockton in districts. The underclass at Clever provides a chance to immediate success and brings a lot of excitement to Coach Snider. The Bluejays were tested last fall and finished with a 12-10 record, with second place finish in the conference tournament. Tyler Deepe will be a solid number one starter for Clever this spring. Deepe was 5-3 in the fall with a 1.41 ERA. He tallied one no hitter and two one-hitters while striking out 70 batters in 49 innings. Clever will look for Calin Springer to do big things in the leadoff spot and on the mound. Springer hit .313 this fall and was 3-0 on the mound. Sophomores Hunter Eutlser and Nathan King will combine to defend the left side of the infield at 3B and SS, respectively. The Bluejays will feature one of the areas top catchers in sophomore Logan Peebles and will have a solid number two in Cameron Garcia. Spencer Flatt will be the lone senior returner on the 2017 squad. Last season, Flatt earned All District honors on the mound and led the Bluejays in almost all offensive categories. Clever will have young talent and depth on the 2017 roster. Look for the Bluejays to get stronger as they gain varsity experience. Coach Snider, who is 174-64 in 6 years at Clever, is excited about they way his team performed in the fall and looks for another successful season. Expect the winning tradition to continue for the Clever Bluejays.
