2017 Spring Team Preview: Ross Rams

With the 2017 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting in Mid-January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2017 Spring Team Preview: Ross Rams

Team Name: Ross
Head Coach: Jason Rettinger
Division: II
2016 Record: 16-13
Conference Record: SWOC
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/4

2017 Team Strengths:

  • Starting pitching: Return 4 starter pitchers and the bulk of our overall innings.
  • Defense: We will have 2-3 year starters at each infield position except for C.
  • Offense: Will have a veteran offense that should pressure the defense 1-9.

2017 Team Weaknesses:

  • None

Coach Outlook: "We should be very solid this year leaning on a big SR class with lots of experience. Potential to start a senior at every position. The bulk of this group has played together their whole lives. Very good team chemistry."

PBR Outlook: After a 16-13 campaign a year ago, coach Rettinger and the Rams are excited for their prospects in 2017. With the return of the bulk of their pitching along with a veteran offense and defense, the Rams may be a team to watch in SW Ohio.

Thomas HouseTop Returning Players:

  • Thomas House, 2017 P: 6'2" 170lbs. Had a solid summer for Midland. He is a 4 year starter on the bump. Has multiple offers at the D2 level. 4-4 with a 3.05 ERA last year.
  • Drew Huffman, 2017 P: 6'3" 220lbs. 30IP with a 3.73 ERA. 3 yr starter
  • Dylan Houlihan, 2017 P: 6'1" 185lbs. 3-2 with a 3.08 ERA 2 yr starter
  • Tyler Flick, 2017 INF: 6'2" 150lbs. Heidelburg commit. .370 BA 3 yr
  • Zach Evans, 2017 INF: 6'0" 150lbs. .311 BA 2 yr starter
  • Sam Stepaniak, 2017 UT: 6'3" 200lbs. .278 BA 2 yr starter

Trevor HouseTop Underclassmen:

  • Brock Tatum, 2018 INF/OF: 5'9" 175lbs.
  • Trevor House, 2018 LHP/OF: Plus arm that may work his way into a senior laden staff.
