With the 2017 spring season right around the corner, PBR West Virginia is excited to once again bring you the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Over the weeks leading up to the start of the high school season we will be releasing team previews for teams across the state.

Team Name: Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders
Head Coach: Tom Harvey (132-132 career record)
Classification: A
2016 Record: 9-15
Conference Record: Little Kanawha Conference
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/2

2017 Team Strengths:

  • Senior leadership, young but talented sophomore and freshmen classes

2017 Team Weaknesses:

  • Inexperience and lack of pitching depth

Coach Outlook: "We have very promising freshman and sophomore classes along with five returning seniors and a first year senior. One of our top arms in Zach VanCamp transferred so we will need to find some guys to replace his innings on the mound. We will be young, but talented. Our results will depend on how well the seniors lead and how well the young kids adapt to the high school game."

PBR Outlook: The Crusaders will need to rely on a strong core of returning seniors to carry the load early. If a talented crew of underclassmen develops quickly to the speed of the high school game a run in the post-season could be on the horizon.
