Top Prospects 2017 Hitting
Ulmer, came onto the scene as a top prospect as a freshman, when he helped led Booneville to a 3A State Championship Runner up in 2016. As a sophomore, the OF/RHP was much of the same, an advanced athlete with a feel to hit and a player who competes at a high level. The Bearcats moved up in classification, and remained successful, winning their region and advancing in the state tournament. Ulmer was a big piece of the puzzle as a two way player.
He projects as an outfielder, although he has shown the ability to play all over the field. He played well this summer for Sticks Baseball Academy. College coaches were able to see him in his natural position throughout the summer and recruiting began to pick up. Ulmer was one of the more impressive players at the Top Prospects Games in June, recording multiple hits in game play, he also showed advanced tools.
In the fall he committed to Arkansas State University, he projects to be a top of the order hitter in the Sun Belt, with an advanced feel for he barrel and knack for getting on base. He will need to add strength, but has shown to be a high level competitor, so in time the weight and strength should come
