2017 Preseason All-State Showcase: Day Two Highlights

A total of 101 prospects from three states took part over two days in the 2017 Preseason All-State Showcase. Action culminated yesterday with 45 prospects dotting the roster.

All players in attendance will be evaluated by position and by class in articles over the coming week. For now here is a quick look at three prospects that stood out on day two.

  • Dillon MarshLancaster Catholic LHP/OF Dillon Marsh showcased the two-way skill set that currently has him ranked No. 3 in the PA Class of 2018 and No. 90 in the PBR overall rankings. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Kentucky recruit set a new event record with a 101 mph bat exit velocity, flirted with his infield arm event record of 91 mph posted a year ago with a 90 mph reading, and topped at 90 mph off the mound nearly matching the event record of 91 mph set by Adam Seibert in 2013.

     
  • Jeff ExtorLuke WagnerA pair of 2020 left-handed pitchers turned heads showcasing advanced abilities in advance of their first year on a high school diamond. LHP/OF Luke Wagner (Red Land) sat 84-85 with an easy, loose arm while showcasing above average feel for his complimentary pitches. The 5-foot-11, 155-pound two-way prospect also ran a 7.06 60-yard dash, displayed fluid, athletic actions in the outfield with 87 mph arm strength and displayed significant barrel whip in his right-handed swing (87 mph bat exit velocity). The Shipley School LHP Jeff Extor flashed an extremely quick arm, sitting 85-86 out of a high 3/4 arm slot. The freshman also commanded a slider with tight rotation at 78-80 and a changeup with above average arm speed at 76-79.
