Comments:
Hanchey has a left-handed bat and a pop time that gets below 2, shutting down opposing running games...Keane is an Old Dominion commit with consistent sub-2 pop times and a strong arm to go with a line drive swing and easy doubles power...Vay is a VCU commit and has been a consistent power presence in Thomas Dale’s lineup since his sophomore year.
Ballance is a Virginia Tech recruit and has a short, simple swing that consistently barrels the ball. He has smooth actions in the field and a loose arm action…Brooks is an athletic defender and dangerous switch hitter who can also contribute on the mound if needed, he is a VCU commit…Francisco is an East Carolina recruit and provides a powerful lefthanded bat to the Abingdon lineup…His teammate Hungate is a Florida State commit and another impact bat in the Abingdon lineup. Hungate can also pitch if needed…Kent is a Virginia recruit with a projectable frame and quick hands…Wagner is a Liberty commit who has some bat speed and easy gap power. He is smooth in the field and his arm has some potential.
Goodes is a VMI recruit and transferred to Greenbrier Christian last summer. He has a strong outfield arm and good left-handed bat with power potential…Loyd is a quick outfielder who has a short swing and some real power to his pull side. He is also a VMI recruit and can hit in any part of Amherst County’s order…Payne will contribute for William Monroe again this spring as the centerpiece of their lineup and their top arm on the mound. He helped carry Monroe to 3A State Championship game last year and could easily do it again, he is a Randolph-Macon commit…Sigler is another transfer from last summer, moving to Benedictine and reclassifying. He has a strong arm and a bat with a ton of upside and could be a big part of what on paper will be a very good Benedictine team this spring.
Ewald didn’t contribute much on the mound last year as Kettle Run marched to the 4A State Tournament, look for the VMI commit to have an increased role there this spring and continue to hit in the middle of the Cougar order…Firoved is a Radford commit with a fastball that has been as high as 89 and a frame that he can still fill out…Gongola is a projectable Maryland recruit with a big arm and draft potential who has been up to 88 with plenty of room to add velocity…Grubbs is a lanky James Madison commit with a quick arm that got up to 88 last summer. He has plenty of room to add to his frame…Murray is a Duke recruit who has a big arm with a ton of upside and should be a big part of what is shaping up to be an outstanding Miller School team…Ouderkirk towers over hitters on the mound and has a lanky frame that he can add to, his fastball got up to 87 last fall…Sims has a projectable frame and is a VCU commit. He has been in the Wolverine lineup since early in his career but has seen his usage on the mound increase…Stewart is a James Madison commit and is one of the best competitors on the mound in Virginia. He has feel for three pitchers and is capable of shutting down any offense in the Commonwealth.
Domecq has been one of Western Albemarle’s top arms since he was a freshman and he is poised to be their ace again this spring. His lefthanded bat also has middle of the lineup potential…Hanner is a Patrick Henry commit and will return as Orange County’s ace this spring as well as an important piece to their lineup…Prarie has a big arm in the outfield and a bat with a lot of upside, but the William & Mary commit should also see significant time on the mound for a young and very talented Lake Braddock team.
Check back later this week as we continue to unveil our 2017 Pre-Season All-PBR VA/DC Team.
