CARY, NC—For the fourth time in five years, the National High School Invitational featured an all-California championship with Huntington Beach HS and Chaminade College Prep squaring off. After losing in the semi-finals in 2015, but going on to win a California Southern Section championship, Huntington Beach returned to the NHSI and broke through to claim the title 7-2. The Oilers got a strong start out of 2018 LHP Nate Madole, who went 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three. A four-run second inning put Huntington Beach up for good, highlighted by a two-run single from SS Chad Minato, a Harvard recruit.
