By Chris Kemlo
PBR Ontario Director of Scouting

From now until the start of the 2015 season, Prep Baseball Report Ontario will bring you in-depth team previews throughout the entire state. If your coach has not filled out the survey please have him do so through this link.

Along with the team previews, the 2015 Team Rankings will be releasing sometime late February and we hope to bring a Q&A session to discuss the rankings.

Also, we will be releasing the preseason All Ontario Teams sometime in early March.

Top Prospects in Class of 2017:

  • Hayden Malenfant - RHP - 6-foot-1 140lbs - Has a lot of potential, good fastball with late movement with two plus off-speed pitches. Can compete, has instincts and very projectable.
  • Dondrae Bremner - SS - 6-foot-1, 145-pounds - Bats left, very nice actions at SS, will grow taller. Nice swing, tremendous footwork, potentially going to grow.
  • Landon Leach - RHP 6-foot-1, 155-pounds - Converted catcher to pitcher. Has very projectable body with very good arm speed. Lots of development needed but can project into 90s fastball. Can be 6-foot-5 when all said and done, athletic and strong kid. Good curveball.

  • Liam Hicks - C/INF - 5-foot-10, 151-pounds - Easy swing with loose hands from the left side. Flashes power, has quality at-bats. Starting to work behind the plate for first time this year. Will hit middle of the order.

Top Prospects in Class of 2018:

  • Daniel Carinci - SS - 5-foot-9, 140-pounds - Very strong and athletic kid, has tremendous bat speed for his age as well as incredible athleticism. Very good hands in the infield with a very strong arm, will be plus speed on the bases. Will be one of the top prospects in Canada for his class.

  • JD Osborne (Tampa University)
  • Gareth Morgan (Seattle Mariners)
  • Connor Panas (Canisius)
  • Johnny Caputo (Stony Brook)

General Notes:

First year coach of the Toronto Mets Hyung Cho brings his knowledgeable and credible resume to the coaching staff. Cho, a former Team Canada MVP, 1st Team Summer All-American, and minor leaguer with the Mariners and Pirates hopes to have a versatile team that will rely on their arms to carry them deep in tournaments, and fight for a PBLO title.

A strong looking team with numerous candidates to participate in the Future Games for PBR Ontario. They should contend for the PBLO Championship and go deep into tournaments.
